Across twenty years of friendship, Jenny Kelly and Mairéad Ronan have experienced single life, marriages, divorce, motherhood, career dilemmas, grief, diets, dodgy hairstyles, stress, ageing, bad times and good times too.
Here, along with their well-earned wisdom about the serious (and sometimes funny) business of life, they share their thoughts on how to navigate grown-up friendships, what it means to be in a relationship, and how to stop worrying about having it all and start figuring out what it is you actually want!
You'll also discover essential truths, like why you will never have Pocahontas hair (and why that's okay), why there's no greater joy than a deep clean with your favourite spray mop (just Jenny?), and how staring at trees can make you happier than owning a Mulberry handbag.
What We Know Now doesn't claim to solve all your problems, but it will provide good company, give you a laugh, and help you feel less alone through the unavoidable ups and downs of life.

    Snapshots Sent Home - From...

"Snapshots of truth . . . Blatty drew the portraits of veterans with love and honesty . . . fearless, furious, broken, hopeless, hopeful, undeterred as forces of nature. It's so easy to start romanticizing them, especially the fallen ones, yet Blatty respects them too much to turn these courageous spirits into cardboard heroes. They are humans instead, with all their follies, anger, broken hearts, and broken lives. The power of a great book is that it stays with you long after you finish reading. It's been ten years since Russians occupied my hometown. It's two years since my whole country turned into a war zone . . . in the fog of the war, these snapshots of truth are as rare as beams of light." —Tetyana Strelchenko, director of America House, Kyiv, UkraineLike many post-9/11 combat veterans, JT Blatty struggled to regain her sense of purpose in the first years returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq. In 2018, a chance encounter brought her to Ukraine, drawn in by the familiarity of war and those who serve in wars. Over five years, JT captured the oral history and portraits of a tribe of revolutionaries, the Donbas volunteer soldiers. As she embedded with them on the front line in bunkers and forests, and in Kyiv flats, JT's story began to blend with theirs in a universal bond of combat veterans, compelling her to stay as a new war began.

Yentin Ongbou Chang came from a priestly clan. Due to the various rituals it performs, his clan is prohibited from eating beef and mutton due to the odor from the meat. The biography of Yentin Ongbou Chang is the story of a tribal statesman from the Chang Naga tribe of Northeast India. Yentin Ongbou loved his people and helped them to advance. He lived a traditional life through many societal changes in Nagaland and in India. In the early days, his land and people were remote and unreached. The Chang people fought with other tribes, as well as the British and Indian government for many years before becoming a part of the Indian union. He was a government official for over four decades. He was an ancestor worshipper who later followed Jesus Christ. Yentin Ongbou Chang, with only the traditional tribal education, succeeded in having all his eight children graduate from college. He loved education and from very early on he understood the importance of education.
Only in recent years, through social media, are the rest of India and the outside world beginning to learn and hear about the people from Northeast India. The geography and the people of Northeast India were not taught in the schools in India. Through The Biography of Yentin Ongbou Chang of a Priestly Clan, we hope we can educate and inform outsiders about the Chang Naga tribe from Nagaland. India is such a diverse country. That diversity is also the greatest strength of India.

    Killing Goldfinger - The Secret...

Killing Goldfinger charts the extraordinary rise and spectacular bullet-riddled fall of John Palmer, the richest, most powerful criminal ever to have emerged from the modern British underworld. During the late 1990s, Palmer was rated as rich as The Queen by the Sunday Times Rich List.

Palmer earned his nickname Goldfinger after smelting (in his back garden) tens of millions of pounds worth of stolen gold bullion from the 20th century's most lucrative heist; the Brink's-Mat robbery. Palmer then used his share of the millions to become the vicious overlord of a vast illegal timeshare property empire in Tenerife. At the same time, Goldfinger financed huge international drugs shipments as well as some of the most notorious UK robberies of the past 30 years, including the £50m Securitas heist in Kent in 2006 and, many believe, the Hatton Garden heist in 2015.

Palmer vowed to hunt down all his underworld enemies. But in the end it was those same criminals who decided to bring his life to an end. Murdered in June 2015, with charges of fraud, money laundering and worse pending, this book tells his murky story for the first time.

As outrageous and bullet-riddled as the hit Netflix series Narcos, Killing Goldfinger tells the true story of Britain's underworld kingpin, who turned the sunshine holiday island of Tenerife into his very own Crime Incorporated and then paid the ultimate price.

In Driving Lessons, Christopher B. Strain sets out on a quintessential American road trip, exploring not just the roads and byways of the country but the road trip's place in American culture. Strain dives into the well of American travel writing, illuminating fascinating aspects of the road trip, such as how race, class, and gender shape the experiences of road trippers.

In the summer of 1998, amid a professional crisis of confidence, Strain settled on a plan to reconnect with both himself and the country he studies. He purchased a 1972 Volkswagen Westfalia van and set off on his own cross-country odyssey. In the weeks that followed, he ruminated on his own ongoing journey alongside great journeys from the past and how they reveal the heart of the traveler as well as the landscape of the nation.

Visiting archives and landmarks across the United States, Strain's journey became a parallel to the stories he studied—an opportunity to see and experience the cities, national parks, and monuments that define United States history. Driving Lessons is a compelling blend of literary analysis and memoir, offering listeners an insightful and heartfelt reflection on the enduring power of the American road trip.

A Union Like Ours - The Love...

After a chance meeting aboard the ocean liner Paris in 1924, Harvard University scholar and activist F. O. Matthiessen and artist Russell Cheney fell in love and remained inseparable until Cheney's death in 1945. During the intervening years, the men traveled throughout Europe and the United States, achieving great professional success while contending with serious personal challenges, including addiction, chronic disease, and severe depression.

During a hospital stay, years into their relationship, Matthiessen confessed to Cheney that "never once has the freshness of your life lost any trace of its magic for me. Every day is a new discovery of your wealth." Situating the couple's private correspondence alongside other sources, Scott Bane tells the remarkable story of their relationship in the context of shifting social dynamics in the United States. From the vantage point of the present day, with marriage equality enacted into law, Bane provides a window into the realities faced by same-sex couples in the early twentieth century, as they maintained relationships in the face of overt discrimination and the absence of legal protections.
