Sinossi

Soon after the Porters adopted the former bait dog, Sheba, they decided to add another Staffordshire Bull Terrier to their pack of rescue dogs. A visit to their local rescue sanctuary saw them adopting a six-month old puppy, part of an abandoned litter that had literally been dumped at the gates of the sanctuary.

They named him Muttley and he was soon assimilated into their canine family. They were't aware at the time, but poor Muttley had not one, but two unusual psychological problems that would lead to this little boy needing special treatment for the rest of his life. Most importantly, they had to learn to cope with an agoraphobic dog. This beautiful dog was quite simply afraid of wide open spaces!

Can you imagine owning a dog that's afraid to go out for walks, or to enjoy running and playing with his packmates? How they learned to cope with Muttley's problem and his secondary issue of being afraid of other dogs is here in his story.

Muttley's Tale is a story of love, understanding and patience, as Brian and Juliet gradually learned ways to bring happiness into Muttley's life, at times seemingly against the odds. Muttley is a real character who, despite his problems, has brought fun and laughter to the family.

It took less than four hours for Sarah Bailey and her younger brother Curtis to lose everything they knew. She lost her school, her mudpie stations, her church, her father, and her name. Everything they own is packed in garbage bags as they are moved to a new foster home. It’s supposed to be a safe haven for them, but as Sarah—now called Anna—learns, their so-called safety comes at a horrific price, as she is groomed and abused by her new foster mother.
But Sarah/Anna is resilient. She adapts to wearing dresses after only dressing as a boy. She befriends a wild and dangerous horse. And for her first Christmas ever, she receives a rag doll, one she carries with her still today. For a child with so little, the rag doll comes to mean so much.
Based on a true story, author of Just Another Slice, Dr. Zaffarese-Dippold continues to share her foster care story in the series “Garbage Bag Life.” This book in the series sheds light on the grooming behavior of some sexual abusers, and the risk to children in the foster care system.

The contents of this book are intended for entertainment, curiosity, and a healthy dose of critical thinking. While Flat Out Fascinating dives into the peculiar world of Flat Earth beliefs, it is not an endorsement of, nor a scientific argument for, pancake-shaped planets or domed skies. No globes were harmed in the making of this book, though a few flat surfaces might have been questioned.
Any resemblance to actual Flat Earthers, conspiracies, or rogue Antarctic penguins is purely coincidental – or the result of an elaborate algorithmic conspiracy. Readers are advised to bring their sense of humor, a grain of salt (or several), and, if necessary, a compass.

"Landry shows us that wit is a more potent therapeutic agent than self-pity...He has such a talent for comic elaboration-- long, glittering, serpentine passages that recall S. J. Perelman."

What do mayonnaise, Tab, iced tea, Vicodin, and French banana (or is it French vanilla?) ice cream have in common? If you guessed addictive tendencies and over-the-top histrionic narcissism, you win!
Welcome to the world of Fred, who is certain an ever-adoring public awaits his next spellbinding performance. Imagine a combination of Willard Scott, Ron Burgundy, and Tolkien’s Gollum, but from Louisiana. Just don’t look too carefully for the person behind the performer – you might not find the laff-a-minute laff riot the often comic, sometimes melodramatic, and frequently 1950s-radio-announcer-intense masks conceal.
Songs of My Father and Other Essays by Gardner Landry assembles relics of his writing from an earlier era that hearken to even earlier times, stretching from childhood into his adult years. The Fred essays recount some of his father’s choice exploits, while the second group includes anecdotes and observations from beyond the confines of his family. Additionally, Landry creates a triple-decker club sandwich of a book (with mayonnaise, of course) by including contemporarily written forewords to the first and second sections, along with a present-day afterword to wrap up the collection. It’s not a big book, but it packs a punch and entertains from cover to cover.

A 5-year-old boy, Ethan, is brought to Casey in the middle of the night after the sudden death of his young mother after a drug overdose.
Estranged from her parents, Ethan’s mum had been abused by her ex-partner, and began taking drugs to cope. Ethan is obviously lost and bewildered, and regularly wakes up screaming for his mum in the night. He begins to lash out at other kids at school and his behaviour becomes more volatile. When arrangements are made for Ethan to see his dad in prison, Casey recognises the name and face… It turns out she’s far more familiar with this case than first imagined.
In this heart-wrenching biography, Casey Watson, the Sunday Times bestselling author, delves into the personal struggles of Ethan, a child thrust into the world of fostering and adoption after a family tragedy. The narrative explores the complex relationships within the social work system, and Ethan's survival in the face of adversity.

After taking a few weeks off work, Casey is presented with a new foster child: 14-year-old Elise, whose Mum left her at just five years old.
At first, she’s no trouble at all, that is until she falsely accuses another carer, Jan, of acting inappropriately towards her. It turns out this isn’t the first lie Elise has told – her previous carer was constantly following up allegations Elise had made of people bullying her, trying to have sex with her, or hurting her physically. With some reservations, Casey agrees to take Elise on long-term, but when she makes some dark claims about her mum, Casey doesn’t know whether to believe her. In any case, she is determined to find out the truth…
Casey Watson, the Sunday Times bestselling author, offers a deeply personal and moving account of her experiences in fostering. The narrative, a gripping blend of autobiography and biography, delves into the themes of survival, relationships, and the social aspects of adoption.
