Sinossi

Winner Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature
Winner Kekoo Naoroji Award for Himalayan Literature
Winner Mountain & Adventure Narrative Award, New Zealand Mountain Film & Book Festival
The golden age of Himalayan mountaineering, from the mid-1970s to the 1980s, brought forth a generation of radical young climbers. With tiny budgets and high ambitions they pioneered fast and light, alpine-style expeditions on mountains such as Jannu, Nuptse, Everest and K2.
In High Risk, Brian Hall recalls the outrageous adventures of eleven of his climbing friends who risked – and often lost – their lives to stand on some of the world's highest peaks during a legendary period in mountaineering history.

KEVIN BALL found his way in the humanitarian world because he felt the need for change. Hollywood's materialistic temperament was wearing on him. His career as a professional stuntman spanned over thirty years and it helped to prepare his mind and body for the hurdles of filming NGOs in developing nations, as well as giving him years of experience both in front of and behind the camera. Kevin decided to take his skills and advocate for those doing great things in the name of humanity. Since his first trip in 2007 to the K-5 minebelt in Cambodia with Freedom Fields USA and the international humanitarian demining group, The HALO Trust, he hasn't looked back. As of 2022, Kevin has had boots on the ground supporting NGOs in over thirty-five countries and has worked with the World Food Program, Operation Smile, The HALO Trust, International Health Emissaries, GUA Africa, Global Action for Children, and more. Acting as the personal film crew for Cindy McCain on her humanitarian missions, Kevin, with the assistance of his stunt buddy, John Evanko, accompanied her to Southeast Asia to document segments to be used during John McCain's run for Presidency of the United States in 2008. They then continued to travel with her, documenting her benevolent actions. Kevin's soapbox message, which he preaches often, is that "Humanity is simple one hand reaching out to help another hand in need, nothing more, nothing less." With this message as his guiding light, he continues to speak out in the darkness and to be a voice for those silenced by unfortunate worldly circumstance and for those that are just trying to do what is right.

Set on the banks of the Boardman River, just south of Traverse City, Michigan, River Love is a compelling memoir about a dog named Sheldon and his remarkable journey to his true home. Tricia Frey shares her deeply personal story, starting from the day she and her sister co-purchased the river property in 2005. The following spring, Tricia spotted the skittish, frightened, little Sheltie she eventually named Sheldon. A shed was transformed into a house for Sheldon and a bond of love began. It took Tricia two years to establish the trust needed to touch him for the first time and eventually get him into her home on this special piece of land known as Rivershire.
Rivershire in a magical place, beckoning in lost souls in need of transformation and safe harbor. In this place, a wayward Sheltie finds his home, a stronger sisterhood emerges, and Tricia comes to trust and believe in herself once again through the love of a dog and the nurturing powers of nature.
Simply stated, River Love is a story of resilience, healing, redemption, and -- most of all -- love. With humor, grace, touching narrative, and an unforseen turn of events, River Love will draw you in, never letting go of your heart.

This audiobook contains the following topics:
1: John Muir was a prominent Scottish-American biologist, author, ecological philosophy, botanist, zoologist, glaciologist, and early supporter for the conservation of wilderness in the US of America. He was also called "John of the Mountains" and "Dad of the National Parks." Countless people have read his letters, essays, and books on his exploits in nature, especially in the Sierra Nevada.
2: From 1955 till his assassination in 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist clergyman and activist who ended up being the most identifiable voice and leader in the American civil liberties movement. King used nonviolence and civil disobedience to advance civil liberties, inspired by his Christian convictions and Mahatma Gandhi's tranquil work.
3: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was an Indian attorney, anti-colonial patriot, and political ethicist who used nonviolent resistance to lead the triumphant struggle for India's independence from British rule, motivating civil liberties and liberty movements around the globe.
4: Mother Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu, typically referred to as Saint Teresa of Calcutta in the Catholic Church, was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and missionary. She was born in Skopje (today the capital of North Macedonia), which was then part of the Ottoman Empire's Kosovo Vilayet.
5: The Industrial Revolution was a period of shift in Britain, continental Europe, and the USA from around 1760 till at some point between 1820 and 1840, when new production innovations were introduced.

    Countess Ilene Medecin

Growing up in Beverly Hills with two famous uncles - a cosmetics magnate and a well-connected mobster - eventually led Ilene Médecin to a romantic and glamorous life as the American First Lady of Nice and the French Riviera. "Arrested" follows Ilene through her marriage to Jacques Médecin, a Medici Count fondly known as "King Jacquou," who was the last scion of a century old political dynasty. Her unique experience is from the perspective of an American woman living in France, married to a powerful French politician ruling the Côte d'Azur as they shared their social circle with Princess Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier. Life was extraordinary among royals, celebrities, and politicians. From the enchanted pages of a storybook Camelot, being at the pinnacle of a fantasy existence, only to fall from grace to the depths of a French prison cell. While there were trysts and scandals, nothing prepared Ilene for the demise of a prominent political family and her eventual arrest for her husband's alleged wrongdoings. As for Jacques, sadly, taking up residence in Uruguay was a puzzling end to a stellar political career.
Neither political exile nor arrest had ever been on Ilene's bucket list, but she found herself checking them both off. Her late husband, Jacques Médecin, had been Mayor of Nice, President of Alpes-Maritimes (presiding over the Côte d'Azur), French Minister of Tourism, Member of Parliament, and a Medici Count. Rest assured, "King Jacquou" was no ordinary politician as he ruled the expanse of the French Riviera. Curiously, he also gained notoriety being the official reference for proper Salad Niçoise as the published author of a widely acclaimed cookbook, "Cuisine Niçoise, Recipes From A Mediterranean Kitchen."
