Summary

In Neo-London, 2077, memories are currency.  The Mnemonic Exchange, a vast digital marketplace, trades in recollections, from the mundane to the extraordinary. But beneath the shimmering surface of shared experiences lurks a chilling truth.  People are vanishing, not just physically, but from the very fabric of existence – victims of Ephemeral Executions, meticulously erased from the collective consciousness.Dr. Emma Reynolds, a neuropsychologist haunted by fragmented memories of a shadowy figure and a sterile laboratory, navigates this memory-saturated world with growing unease. When a prominent tech mogul disappears without a trace, Emma is recruited by a shadowy government agency to investigate these unprecedented erasures. Her investigation leads her to the Archivists, a clandestine group operating within the Exchange, subtly rewriting history one memory at a time.Emma's path collides with Detective Terri Smith, a woman whose digitally enhanced memories of a wrongful conviction fuel her relentless pursuit of justice.  Terri's augmented memory, a blessing and a curse, allows her to recall every detail of her ordeal, but also makes her acutely aware of the malleability of truth in a world where memories can be bought, sold, and altered.  Their alliance is an uneasy one, forged in the crucible of a shared pursuit of the truth.Together, they uncover a conspiracy that reaches the highest echelons of power, a world where oblivion is traded like any other commodity.  As the Archivists’ activities escalate, Emma’s fragmented memories begin to coalesce, leading her closer to a terrifying revelation – the shadowy figure from her past is not just a figment of her imagination, but a key player in the conspiracy, someone who has deliberately tampered with her own memories.Emma faces a stark choice: exploit the very technology she abhors to expose the Archivists, or risk losing not only the past but her own future, her identity dissolving into the digital ether.  In a city where memories are the ultimate currency, Emma must fight to preserve the sanctity of truth, before it’s erased forever.

Anty Boisjoly is back with his reddest-of-herringed, twistiest-of-turned, locked-roomiest manor house mystery yet.
It’s a classic, manor house, mystery-within-a-locked-room-mystery for Anty Boisjoly when a death is foretold by a mystic that Anty’s sure is a charlatan. But when an impossible murder follows the foretelling, Anty and his old ally and nemesis Inspector Wittersham must sift the connivance, contrivance, misguidance, and faith in pseudoscience of the household and its haunted history before the killer strikes again.
Like all Anty Boisjoly locked-room puzzlers, Foreboding Foretelling at Ficklehouse Felling is a stand-alone farce for those who like a little crime with their comedy and vice-versa.

Amelia Ann Blanford Edwards was born on 7th June 1831 in Islington, London. She was educated at home by her mother and showed early promise as a writer, publishing her first poem at the age of 7 and her first story at 12. Thereafter several popular periodicals published her poetry, stories and articles.

In addition she also illustrated some of her own writings and painted scenes from books she had read. This talent was not supported by her parents, who saw an artist’s life as scandalous. Undeterred Amelia took up composing and performing music until a bout of typhus caused throat damage. Other interests soon followed until, early in the 1850s, Amelia focused exclusively on writing. Her early novels were well received, and with ‘Barbara's History’ in 1864, a work revolving around bigamy, her reputation was established.

Amelia’s pen was also the purveyor of ghost stories for magazines and are still anthologized as classic tales to this day.

In January 1851, Amelia became engaged, apparently to please her parents, but she quickly broke it off. In reality her emotional attachments were almost exclusively with women. From the early 1860s she lived with Ellen Drew Braysher, a widow 27 years her senior, until both women died in early 1892. During this relationship other women also entered and left her life. Her frequent travelling companion, Lucy Renshaw, accompanied her to Egypt in the winter of 1873 and there she found a life-changing interest in Egyptology. Aware of increasing threats from tourism and modern development she became an advocate for their research and preservation.

To advance the work Amelia largely abandoned much of her writing in favour of Egyptology and even took on strenuous lecture tours to raise funds.

After catching influenza, Amelia Edwards, ‘the Godmother of Egyptology’ died on 15th April 1892 at Weston-super-Mare. She was 60.

    Theft. Extortion. Dinner with Dad.

Lola McKenzie never wanted to steal from her dodgy boss. But she also never wanted to be stuck in a dead-end job, paying off her dad's debts.

So when she sees a bag of cash sitting around unattended at work, she figures it's time to make life a little easier. Only, the next day her boss is missing, presumed dead - and it won't take a genius to figure out Lola is involved.

Turns out that Lola's pinched more than a bag of cash ... nestled at the bottom of the bag was a USB drive that could be either a curse or an opportunity. Lola doesn't know what's on it, only that it's important enough for the local cops and the local crooks to come looking for it.

Is it a magnet for trouble? Or her ticket out of the hard life? All she has to do is figure out a way to sell it to the highest bidder without revealing her identity. Should be easy, right?
