Sinossi

In "The Mill of Silence," Bernard Capes weaves a haunting narrative that explores the intricate dynamics of human emotion amidst the backdrop of a desolate mill, serving as a potent metaphor for isolation and despair. Capes employs a meticulous literary style, rich with atmospheric descriptions and an undercurrent of tension, merging elements of Gothic fiction with psychological depth. The novel, published during the early 20th century, reflects the era's fascination with the darker aspects of the human psyche, drawing parallels with contemporary societal anxieties and existential ponderings. Bernard Capes, an English author admired for his short stories and novels, often delved into themes of the supernatural and the macabre. His own experiences, including a career as an artist and his exposure to the complexities of human nature, notably influenced his storytelling. Capes' literary journey, marked by encounters with both beauty and tragedy, allowed him to authentically explore themes of isolation and the haunting silence of unexpressed thoughts and feelings in this striking work. Readers who appreciate a rich tapestry of Gothic elements interwoven with psychological insight will find "The Mill of Silence" an engrossing read. This novel invites introspection and encourages readers to reflect on the intricacies of despair and the unspoken burdens that accompany the human experience.

In a remote mountain village, debt-collector Durwood finds himself troubled by conflicting memories when he is tasked with claiming the old windmill property of the mysteriously vanished professor Rohr. This is a short story about certain kinds of 'ghosts', and the unsettling ways in which they can play a strange part in our past and future.
The story was written back in 2004 but never published. Now, twenty years later, it has been dusted off and polished to coincide with the release of S.M. Thygesen's new novel 'Burning Bright'. 'Haunting Infinity' is a distinct story, set in the 1950'ies, many years before the events of 'Burning Bright', but there is a connection in terms of the origin of some tech and a founding character, who will also be making a brief appearance at the end of the new novel.

Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is a novel written by the British author Mary Shelley. Shelley wrote the novel when she was 18 years old. The first edition was published anonymously in London in 1818, and this audiobook is read from that text. Shelley's name appeared on the revised third edition, published in 1831. The title of the novel refers to the scientist, Victor Frankenstein, who learns how to create life and creates a being in the likeness of man, but larger than average and more powerful. In modern popular culture, people have tended to refer to the Creature as "Frankenstein" (especially in films since 1931), despite this being the name of the scientist, and the creature being unnamed in the book itself. Frankenstein is a novel infused with elements of the Gothic novel and the Romantic movement. It was also a warning against the "over-reaching" of modern man and the Industrial Revolution, alluded to in the novel's subtitle, The Modern Prometheus. The story has had an influence across literature and popular culture and spawned a complete genre of horror stories and films. It is arguably considered the first fully-realised science fiction novel and raises many issues still relevant to today's society

I had no idea how much I wanted to take Purgatory's throne and rule Hell with the Seven Sinners. Too bad the most notorious devil would prefer to rule alone.
If only that was the worst of it. My soulmate’s health declines, and I must kill him to guide his soul to Hell and help him take his throne. How can I murder the one who is responsible for my angel-kissed soul? I don’t have a choice, though. If I fail to do it, Hell will never rise, and someone needs to put Lucian in his place before he destroys everything. Kase, Dante, Micah, and Andre claim it needs to be me. I guess if I can break some angels, a devil shouldn’t be a problem, right? At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.
As my tasks change and I have to rearrange my priorities, I need to find out what’s worth fighting for in life and if in the end, I can handle whatever Heaven and Hell throw at me. If I don’t, my soul will never belong to me again.

He was once a husband, father, lawyer, and Civil War soldier. Now he is a vampire struggling to hold onto his last thread of humanity—and to destroy the one who made him. In I Travel by Night, Trevor Lawson handles matters from his lair at the Hotel Sanctuaire in New Orleans. When a prominent lumber man comes to him for help—to find and free his kidnapped daughter—Trevor senses a trap, for the man who signed the ransom note is one he knows too well. Traveling towards a ghost town in the dark of the swamps, Trevor soon finds himself preparing for a final showdown against the purest form of evil in existence: the Dark Society and its bloodthirsty queen. With his new sidekick, Ann Kingsley, Trevor travels to Montana in Last Train from Perdition. When they try to free a young man from an outlaw gang, an innocent woman is caught in the crossfire. To save her life—and bring their captured fugitives to justice—Trevor and Ann take the train to Helena, never expecting the ambush that awaits them. For an army of the undead has gathered in the snowy darkness with a very special surprise for Ann: a reunion with her father and sister, who no longer resemble the humans she once loved. “Perfect for Deadwood fans and those who enjoy the American Vampire graphic-novel series by Scott Snyder.
