Sinossi

Velocity Training offers a comprehensive guide to velocity-based training (VBT), a method focused on maximizing athletic performance through optimized movement. The book delves into biomechanics, strength adaptation, and performance optimization, providing a science-backed approach to improving speed and agility. It highlights how VBT allows for real-time feedback and adjustments, enabling athletes to train at the ideal intensity for desired results.

Did you know that VBT challenges traditional training methods by offering a data-driven framework? The book revisits the evolution of strength and conditioning, contrasting volume-based approaches with today's velocity-focused techniques.

Beginning with fundamental concepts like velocity, force, and power, the book progresses into practical applications for various strength training types, including weightlifting and sprint training. It provides hands-on guidance on using velocity-measuring devices and interpreting data to adjust training programs. The principles are supported by scientific evidence and insights from experienced coaches.

The book also connects VBT to fields such as physics and sports psychology, enriching the understanding of its potential. Ultimately, it aims to equip coaches, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts with the knowledge to enhance athletic performance effectively.

Dr. Huang hates Benjamin. Benjamin threw Dr. Huang out of Homer Memorial Golf & Country Club for being a pervert and having a fluid gender identity for subversive purposes. But Dr. Huang got lucky after Benjamin got knocked out by a stray golf ball. After the trauma, Benjamin ends up in the hospital with a futuristic probe inserted between the hemispheres of his brain-a probe implanted by Dr. Huang. Benjamin awakes in a dream-like environment at the first tee box at Homer Memorial. But only to be challenged to a golf match by the three sisters of fate, Nona, Decima, and Morta. Benjamin has no real chance of beating the supernatural sisters, but the stakes become apparent through a series of questions. Benjamin can earn more shots to his handicap for each hole, but there is a deadly catch: if he lies, he instantly dies by electrocution from Dr. Huang's probe. A deadly match that Benjamin comes to realize is happening inside his mind. Dr. Huang monitors Benjamin's every thought; if he even thinks about lying or misleading the sister of fate, he dies. Benjamin's life is at risk for each hole, and a series of challenges designed by Dr. Huang beyond golf await him. The challenges that examine racism, bigotry, gender dysphoria, and what happened to a crumbling American society and body politic. Will the sisters of fate win the match and Morta cut Benjamin's life short, or will Benjamin adhere to his ethical standard, his par, to fight back for his life? Nathaniel Sewell was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He lives in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. Travelogues are boring, especially the ones about cycling.
My 30th birthday present to myself was to quit my job, set out from Seattle, and maybe cycle the world. BOOK RED begins this insane journey. When my bike started falling apart in the first two days, things weren’t looking so good. When pedaling 9 hours a day wasn’t supplying enough serotonin, things weren’t looking so good. An elated mind will smile at strangers; a diseased one will make games of passing bottles of urine, dead animals, and roadside crosses.
I die in the book, a few times. In fact, it's one of my favorite things to do while cycling. Though many have cycled to Mesa Verde, I detour into the Hopi’s Land of the Dead. Hallucinations of a former lover haunt at the most unsuspecting times: on a frisbee golf course, behind Germany’s Disneyland castle, and chasing rabbits at night. The songs and poems in the book hearken back to a time before the DSM, while ridiculous recipes don’t offer assurance I’m going to make it.
THIRTY has all the pieces of an adventure novel: how to fix things, unreal encounters, braving the unknown... yet seems to see everything the wrong way. The world it creates, the choices made, are at times absurd, but when you're in unfamiliar places and only talk to strangers, it all starts to makes sense.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
"Snowbound: Hiking the PCT in 2023’s Record Snow Year – Volume 2" continues Riley Riffel’s journey through one of the harshest seasons the Pacific Crest Trail has ever seen. With deep snow still clinging to the mountains and wildfires closing in from the north, every mile demanded more than just endurance—it asked for surrender. This volume follows Riley into the second half of the trail, where the physical toll mounts and the silence grows louder. A mountain lion encounter shakes his sense of safety. New shoes bring unexpected pain. Loneliness weighs heavier than his pack. But even in the struggle, there’s clarity: every hardship reveals something true. From fire detours to digital cries for help, from breakdowns to quiet triumphs, Riley learns to let go of control, walk with uncertainty, and stay present—step by step. This isn’t just a continuation of a hike. It’s the next chapter in a deeper reckoning—and a reminder that the real trail is the one we walk within.

Hunting is our heritage, our heart, and our future.

Where does hunting fit in the modern world? To many, it can seem outdated or even cruel, but as On Hunting affirms, hunting is holistic, honest, and continually relevant. Authors Grossman, Miller, and Cunningham dive deep into the ancient past of hunting and examine its position today, demonstrating that we cannot understand humanity without first understanding hunting. Readers will

    ·       discover how hunting formed us,

    ·       examine hunting ethics and their adaptation to modernity,

    ·       understand the challenges, traditions, and reverence of today's hunter,

    ·       identify hunting skills and their many applications outside the field,

    ·       learn why hunting is critical to ecological restoration and preservation, and

    ·       gain inspiration to share hunting with others.

Drawing from ecology, philosophy, and anthropology and sprinkled with campfire stories, this wide-ranging examination has rich depths for both nonhunters and hunters alike. On Hunting shows that we need hunting still—and so does the wild earth we inhabit.
