Sinossi

Arthur Morrison's "The Collected Works" is a meticulously compiled anthology that encapsulates the breadth of his literary genius, showcasing his mastery of realism and naturalism in late Victorian prose. Within these pages, Morrison presents a vivid tapestry of life among the lower classes of London, employing a keen observational style that captures the gritty realism of urban existence. His works often juxtapose the harsh realities of poverty with intricate character studies, providing readers with both social commentary and psychological depth, reflective of the concerns of his time, including class struggles and social reform. A prolific author and a significant figure in the development of crime fiction, Morrison's writings were influenced by his own upbringing in the East End of London. His experiences among the urban poor inspired several of his stories, imbuing them with authenticity and a sense of urgency. Additionally, Morrison's interactions with contemporaries such as Arthur Conan Doyle and H.G. Wells illustrate his engagement with the broader literary movements of his day, while his advocacy for the underrepresented voices of the lower classes solidifies his position as a transformative writer in the late 19th century. For readers fascinated by social issues and the human condition, "The Collected Works" serves as an essential exploration of life's complexities and the environment that shapes individuals. Morrison's insightful narratives not only entertain but also provoke thought and empathy, making this collection a vital addition to any literary library.

Mark Twain's work on Joan of Arc is titled in full "Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc, by the Sieur Louis de Conte." De Conte is identified as Joan's page and secretary. For those who've always wanted to "get behind" the Joan of Arc story and to better understand just what happened, Twain's narrative makes the story personal and very accessible. The work is fictionally presented as a translation from the manuscript by Jean Francois Alden, or, in the words of the published book, "Freely Translated out of the Ancient French into Modern English from the Original Unpublished Manuscript in the National Archives of France."
It was originally published as a serialization in Harper's Magazine beginning in 1895 and later published in book form in 1896. However the Harper's editors decided to cut 12 chapters that describe much of Joan's Great Trial, saying the chapters were not suitable for serialization since, "They will not bear mutilation or interruption, but must be read as a whole, as one reads a drama." This recording contains the complete text!De Conte is a fictionalized version of Joan of Arc's page Louis de Contes, and provides narrative unity to the story. He is presented as an individual who was with Joan during the three major phases of her life - as a youth in Domremy, as the commander of Charles' army on military campaign, and as a defendant at the trial in Rouen. The book is presented as a translation by Alden of de Conte's memoirs, written in his later years for the benefit of his descendants.Twain based his descriptions of Joan of Arc on his daughter, Susy Clemens, as he remembered her at the age of seventeen.Twain said, "I like Joan of Arc best of all my books; and it is the best; I know it perfectly well. And besides, it furnished me seven times the pleasure afforded me by any of the others; twelve years of preparation, and two years of writing. The others needed no preparation and got none." This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
The story TREE-The Sixth Element has evolved and is inspired by many historical facts. I believe that this story acknowledges the bond between man and nature. My intention in writing this book is to raise awareness about the Five Elements (The Panchabhootas) among the new generation. In ancient times, people worshipped the Panchabhootas; Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and the Sky for their protection and satisfaction.
More than 3,000 years ago, people believed in Sanatana Dharma and they were worshipping Panchabhootas.
Just as humans can develop habits through continuous exposure, plants too can exhibit habituation and become conditioned or ‘addicted’ to certain stimuli over time.
This is a literary work and a peek into the historical nexus that beautifully portrays human experiences through different eras.
With profound gratitude, I dedicate TREE-The Sixth Element to the readers.

The tenth Earl of Berham does not know what to do. An attractive thirty-two-year-old bachelor, he has been appointed guardian of the young Freddie Armstrong, the eighteen-year-old grandson of his late father's dear friend. That's bad enough. Then he discovers that the boy is really a girl! It is against all convention and against his personal code to keep a young lady concealed in his own home. He must find a solution.
The earl's frequent visitor, Lady Clarissa Rennenord, heartily agrees—but for less noble reasons. Lady Clarissa hopes to snare the earl in marriage and does not want any competition. She recommends that Freddie be sent to a seminary. No one but Lady Rennenord knows what a horrid place it is—and no one, including Lady Rennenord, expects Freddie to escape. Now Freddie is back, and the earl finds her presence unsettling in more ways than one.
