Sinossi

The detective had been watching for four days before he realised suddenly that the house was inhabited.

It was a sinister-looking house that stood alone upon a lonely shore in South Australia, and it lay by the margin of the waves in a little sandy cove between the dip of two high hills.

It was a place where few men came, for it was cut off from the distant townships by long, barren wastes of rock-strewn land.

There were no roads nor tracks within many miles of it, and its only highway was the dark and restless sea, forever teased and fretted by the winds that blew across the gulf.

And for four whole days he had watched it through his binoculars from the cliff less than two hundred yards away, and the whole time there had been no suggestion about it of any life within.
It was a silent house, as still and silent as the grave.
Its door had never opened, he had seen no faces from its window and no smoke had ever issued from its chimneys--yet in the falling light of dusk that evening it had flashed to him, as lightning flashes through the blackness of a midnight sky, that human beings were in hiding there.

Some secrets refuse to stay buried. Some killers never stop.
When DCNR Ranger Emily Davis discovers a human skull buried in the Pennsylvania wilderness, she unwittingly exposes a decades-old crime and a serial killer who has been using her park as a dumping ground. As more remains are uncovered, one set is traced to a long-forgotten cold case involving a missing judge, a mystery that now appears to be just one piece of a disturbing pattern. Clues suggest the judge’s disappearance is connected to several other missing persons cases—each one pointing to a predator who has gone undetected for years.
State Police Sergeant Wade Brunner has spent years chasing justice, but this case is personal. Not only is Emily the woman he never stopped loving, but working alongside her stirs memories of the one case that still haunts them both—Emily’s missing sister, Nora. While her disappearance remains separate from the murders, every uncovered body forces Emily to relive the trauma of losing her sister.
As they work to unravel the threads of a case spanning years and victims, Wade and Emily must confront their past, their faith, and a relentless killer who has no intention of stopping.
But the closer they get to the truth, the more dangerous it becomes. Someone is watching. Someone is hunting. And Emily may be the next to vanish.
For fans of Colleen Coble, Lisa Phillips, and Susan May Warren, Grave Pursuits is a riveting Christian suspense novel where past sins refuse to stay buried, and faith is the only thing standing between justice and death.

"The Blue Cross" is a short story by G. K. Chesterton. It was the first Father Brown short story and also introduces the characters Flambeau and Valentin. It is unique among the Father Brown mysteries in that it does not follow the actions of the Father himself, but rather those of Valentin. It was first published on 23 July 1910, under the title "Valentin Follows a Curious Trail", in the Saturday Evening Post, Philadelphia. Re-titled as "The Blue Cross", publication in London followed, in The Story-Teller magazine of September 1910.

Kaarina is done with the world. But the world isn’t done with her.
Now that Kristian is gone, all Kaarina wants to do is to ride her horse. Live alone in the old barn. Leave the human race and its problems far behind. But it’s not that simple… not when the bots from City of Finland are hunting down and killing the animals one by one. Not when Sanna is asking for her help. And not when Margaret keeps tapping her, telling her she can save the animals, that she can save the whole world...
All she has to do is push the button.
