Sinossi

In the tranquil village of Kovensehn, nestled amidst green hills and dense forests, life used to follow its peaceful and undisturbed course. Its inhabitants had known each other for generations, and the old houses whispered stories of times gone by. But even in the most serene places, secrets can hide in the shadows, and curiosity can unleash forces that should never have been set free.

On a sunny summer afternoon, a young and determined couple, Arina and Denys, arrived in Kovensehn seeking a fresh start. Their old life in the city had been a whirlwind of stress and anxiety, and they longed for a quiet refuge for themselves and their young daughter, Annael. With a house that seemed to emerge from a fairy tale, Kovensehn appeared to be the perfect place to begin anew.

However, their idyllic life would soon take a sinister turn. Inside the house they had acquired, at the very top of the attic, they found a locked door. Neighbors' rumors warned of the forbidden room, but Arina and Denys' curiosity proved stronger than any caution.

Opening the room unleashed an ancient and dark evil that threatened to plunge Kovensehn into a nightmare no one could have imagined. Shadows spread, inexplicable events shook the village's peace, and in the midst of it all, Arina and Denys were forced to confront a terrifying reality.

This is the account of their struggle, a battle against an evil that should have never been set free, a fight that would lead them to uncover dark secrets buried in the village's past and forge an unbreakable alliance with their brave neighbor, Kateryna.

Join Arina, Denys, and their daughter Annael on a journey through the shadows as they confront the terror they have unleashed and make unthinkable sacrifices in their quest for redemption.

The human race prides itself on being the most organised of animals. We manage the fate of all other species. All other animals bow to our control or suffer. In diminishing numbers we allow some to live in the wild but in increasing numbers we domesticate them and whether they become part of the family, a best friend or wonderfully decorative accessory we take their compliance for granted. Such a shame then when these creatures take umbrage and prepare their revenge on us they do so in ways designed to show that when the tables turn ‘mercy’ is just a word that we humans plead for, expect, but, of course, is always denied.

A woman visits a haunted castle, and two friends share tales of the supernatural in these two gothic novels featured in Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey. In Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey, the main character, Catherine, receives a reading list of gothic novels. Once thought to be fabricated by Austen, these novels were rediscovered in the 1920s and are now referred to as the “Northanger Horrid Novels.” Two of the Northanger Horrid Novels, The Castle of Wolfenbach and The Necromancer, are presented here as A Northanger Double Feature. With hidden identities, damsels in distress, creepy castles, and villainous Counts, The Castle of Wolfenbach (1793) is a showcase for the gothic genre. The story follows the beautiful Matilda as she escapes unwanted advances, braves the haunted castle, and attempts to find safety, and maybe even love, all while being pursued by her murderous uncle. The Castle of Wolfenbach is Eliza Parsons’s most famous novel and an important foundational work in the gothic genre. The Necromancer (1794) is by far the strangest of the Northanger Horrid Novels. The story begins with two friends, Herman and Hellfried, passing a stormy night by exchanging supernatural stories. The weirdness continues to unfold through a series of letters. The work is an example of the gothic genre’s use of framing narratives surrounding first person accounts from multiple characters. The Necromancer takes this trope to staggering heights by nesting multiple narratives inside each other. The resulting stories are a bizarre collection of violence and supernatural shenanigans centered around the mysterious Valkert, who is rumored to have returned from the dead. Both of these stories are amazing examples of early gothic works and can be enjoyed as such for fans of the genre or read as a companion to Austen’s Northanger Abbey.

The boy who became Bobby Baltimore.
Born last and long after his siblings, Rupert Haydock always was a Mama’s Boy. His Daddy used to taunt him for it, even though he did all he could to live up to his Dad’s high standards for toughness.
But when his mother accidentally contracts the mysterious and dreaded Rip Daddy disease through a cut on her hand, thanks to her husband’s carelessness, Rupert spends every minute at her bedside, taking care of her.
At first, he prays she’ll recover. But then her agony grows and her flesh starts to rot -- until she no longer resembles the mother he once knew. He’s not sure if the disease has completely ravaged her mind, or if she’s still trapped deep inside her rapidly decaying body.
End her suffering or stay with her to the horrific end -- what would any Mama’s Boy do?
Empty Nest is a stand-alone story told inside the universe of Platt & Truant's Dead World Trilogy, an intelligent, big pharma corporate espionage and genetic engineering exploration of the zombie subgenre.
