Growing up, Mickey Rowe was told that he couldn’t enter the mainstream world.

He was iced out by classmates and colleagues, infantilized by well-meaning theatre directors, barred from even earning a minimum wage. Why? Because he is autistic.

Fearlessly Different: An Autistic Actor’s Journey to Broadway’s Biggest Stage is Mickey Rowe’s inspiring story. As an autistic and legally blind person, it was always made clear to Mickey the many things he was apparently incapable of
doing. But Mickey did them all anyway—and he succeeded because of, not in spite of, his autism. He became the first autistic actor to play the lead role in the play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, landed the title role in the
play Amadeus, cocreated the theatre/philanthropy company Arts on the Waterfront, and founded the National Disability Theatre. Mickey faced untold obstacles along the way, but his story ends in triumph.

Many people feel they are locked out of the world of autism—that it’s impossible to even begin to understand. In Fearlessly Different, Mickey guides readers to that world while also helping those with autism to feel seen and understood. And he
shows all people—autistic and nonautistic alike—that the things that make us different are often our biggest strengths.

Thanks to Caesar’s victory in the civil war, Pompey is mostly remembered not for being one of Rome’s greatest generals, but for being defeated by Caesar and then ignominiously murdered after he fled to Egypt, where the boy pharaoh Ptolemy XIII decapitated Pompey and offered his head to Caesar as a gift. Although Caesar was there chasing Pompey’s men, he quickly became involved in Egypt’s own civil war. As a consequence of Ptolemy’s barbarity, Caesar impulsively decided to side with his sister Cleopatra in her bid for the throne of Egypt, escalating what was rapidly becoming an all-out civil war.
Of course, before the civil war, Pompey was one of the most powerful men in Rome. Gnaeus Pompeius was born on September 29, 106 BCE and went on to become regarded as one of the greatest statesmen and generals of the late Roman Republic. He was given the title “the Great” by his troops in Africa in 82 BCE and assumed the cognomen Magnus after 81 BCE. Pompey belonged to the senatorial nobility, the Pompeii, and the family had its first consul in 141 BCE. He loved all things Greek and spoke the language fluently. He gained much of his early military experience working on the staff of his father Pompeius Strabo, and the family base was in Picenum in eastern Italy. Strabo had significantly increased the family’s clients when he was consul in 88 BCE.
In time, Pompey played a role in defeating many of Rome’s enemies across the world, from Africa to Spain, and he even helped put down Spartacus’ uprising. He had built his military power and acumen by participating in Rome’s previous civil war between Gaius Marius and Sulla, sharpening both his political and military skills, and he used them to great effect for decades during one of ancient Rome’s most chaotic – and important – periods. Perhaps just as importantly, following his successes in Africa, he demanded a triumph and refused to disband his army.

Could a playful kiss on the cheek from a world-famous Revolutionary War hero change the life of a troubled young girl in 1825 New England?  A Buss from Lafayette, called "a winning historical tale" by Kirkus Reviews, shows how it could have happened.Fourteen-year-old Clara Hargraves lives on a farm in Hopkinton, a small New Hampshire town, during the early 19th century. She has a couple of big problems. First of all, she has a stepmother, Priscilla, who used to be her spinster schoolteacher aunt. Clara resents that her late mother’s older sister has not only married her father but is about to have a baby.To make matters worse, “Prissy Priscilla” keeps trying to make the rambunctious, clever, and witty Clara act like a proper young lady. Secondly, Clara has red hair, making her a target for teasing by a handsome older boy, Dickson Weeks, and by her pretty seventeen-year-old Dread Cousin Hetty.Clara, however, has a secret plan she hopes will change this. During the last week of June, 1825, Clara’s town is abuzz because the famous General Lafayette is about to visit their state during his farewell tour of America. In those eventful seven days, Clara learns a lot about her family, Hetty, Dickon, herself, and about Lafayette. She comes to understand the huge and vital role the young French aristocrat played in America’s Revolutionary War and to see that her problems might not be quite so terrible after all."A winning historical tale that may appeal to young fans of the musical Hamilton." - Kirkus Reviews

Akhenaten, originally named Amenhotep IV, emerged as one of ancient Egypt’s most enigmatic and controversial pharaohs. His rise to power marked the beginning of a transformative period in Egyptian history, characterized by significant religious, cultural, and political changes. Born into the illustrious 18th Dynasty, Akhenaten was the son of Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye. As a young prince, he was not initially destined for the throne, but circumstances eventually positioned him as the successor.
Upon ascending to the throne, Akhenaten quickly distinguished himself from his predecessors. Unlike his father, whose reign was marked by prosperity and relative stability, Akhenaten pursued a path that would challenge long-established traditions. Initially, he ruled under the name Amenhotep IV, signifying continuity with the Amun-centric religious practices. However, early in his reign, he began to favor the worship of Aten, the sun disk, over the traditional pantheon. This inclination marked the first signs of his radical departure from convention.
One of the most significant acts of his reign was the changing of his name from Amenhotep IV to Akhenaten, which means "Effective for Aten." This change was not merely symbolic but an open declaration of his devotion to Aten, marking a clear break from the established worship of Amun and other deities. By adopting this new identity, Akhenaten positioned himself as the earthly representative of the sun disk, consolidating both religious and political authority in his hands.
