  The Muwaṭṭaʾ (Arabic: الموطأ, "well-trodden path") or Muwatta Imam Malik (Arabic: موطأ الإمام مالك) of Imam Malik (711–795) written in the 8th-century, is one of the earliest collections of hadith texts comprising the subjects of Islamic law, compiled by the Imam, Malik ibn Anas. Malik's best-known work, Al-Muwatta was the first legal work to incorporate and combine hadith and fiqh (except possibly for Zayd ibn Ali's Musnad). It is considered to be from the earliest extant collections of hadith that form the basis of Islamic jurisprudence alongside the Qur'an. It includes reliable hadith from the people of the Hijaz, as well as sayings of the companions, the followers and also those who came after them. But the tension between these two motives makes us especially vulnerable to bias—and bias distorts our view of the world and of ourselves and can keep us from doing even what we know is right.
  In The Unbiased Self, social psychologist Erin Devers lays out what psychology has discovered about bias and selfishness. To truly overcome cognitive bias, we need a vision of what an unbiased self could look like, stemming from a solid sense of identity—an identity available in Christian faith.   In 2012, an incredible phenomenon began to occur. Internet users, in earnest, began reporting frightening encounters with emaciated, pale, hairless humanoids that, for the most part, crawled on all fours. Internet users attempted to equate these entities with characters of Native American mythology, oblivious to the fact that the humanoids in these encounters bore a resemblance to the fictional Rake. Many witnesses suggested that they were "Skinwalkers," medicine men or witches of traditional Navajo lore who possess the ability to transform into animals. Others proposed that these emaciated humanoids were manifestations of the "Wendigo," a malevolent cannibalistic spirit of Cree and Algonquin legend. Others still began to invent new names for these creatures, such as "Fleshgaits" and "Crawlers," the latter evoking the 2005 movie entities that likely helped to inspire the Rake originally. 
   
   
   
  The humanoid encounters and sightings that are detailed in this book over varied glimpses into the phenomenon.
