Alfred McLelland Burrage was born in Hillingdon, Middlesex on 1st July, 1889. His father and uncle were both writers, primarily of boy’s fiction, and by age 16 AM Burrage had joined them. The young man had ambitions to write for the adult market too. The money was better and so was his writing.
From 1890 to 1914, prior to the mainstream appeal of cinema and radio the printed word, mainly in magazines, was the foremost mass entertainment. AM Burrage quickly became a master of the market publishing his stories regularly across a number of publications.
By the start of the Great War Burrage was well established but in 1916 he was conscripted to fight on the Western Front. He continued to write during these years documenting his experiences in the classic book War is War by Ex-Private X.
For the remainder of his life Burrage was rarely printed in book form but continued to write and be published on a prodigious scale in magazines and newspapers. In this volume we concentrate on his supernatural stories which are, by common consent, some of the best ever written. Succinct yet full of character each reveals a twist and a flavour that is unsettling…..sometimes menacing….always disturbing.

An elegant, beautiful, and inspiring epic exploring a semiotic paradise!
Nietzsche called homo sapien the “murderer of all murderers” when he declared that “God is dead” at the turn of the 20th Century. Yet, the great god Pan died nearly 2,000 years ago. Thamus, are you there? Take care. The Obsolescence of Oracles followed. All Earths’ mightiest Heroes swallowed. And what of the Poets hallowed? “Who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves?”
All Earths’ religions burn, including science. Earth is lost, Eternity follows. In a universe long lost it is written that a Phoenix rises from the ashes. So a Phoenix rises, however improbable.
The first in a trilogy, Phoenix Saga is written in waves of Hope and Love for a lost species on a beautiful planet in a vast Universe. A Modern Mythos for Peace on Earth in a 22nd century and beyond.
Shall we do something we’ve never done?

It was the quiet after the storm. I sat up in bed - what had awakened me? I tried to sit still to listen, but my heart was pounding. Throwing off the covers I turned to look out at the rising moon shining brilliantly through the departing storm clouds, its silver lighting up my room.
Goosebumps rose on my arms and I tried to rub them down. At the gym pool, I peered down from the diving board, watching as the rising moon cast its light upon the water. Moonlight trailed into the water and bubbles began to rise from the bottom, the pool thrilling to the moonlight as its water called to me.
Caught up in the moonlight’s song, I dove in an arc into the still waters, shattering the moon’s reflection. Blissful waters greeted me, calling to me as one of its own. It was a thrilling experience as instead of the expected pool bottom, a sparkling undersea vista welcomed me.
