Sinossi

Journey to the emerald isles and the rugged coasts of Portugal for a selection of stories filled with lyricism and wonder. The Celtic influence brings a dreamlike quality to the text, populated by the Sidhe and other mystical beings of the landscape. These tales emphasize the intersection of the human world and the fairy realm, often centering on the perils of crossing that divide. It is a beautifully curated collection that highlights the poetic soul of Western European storytelling.

Vincent O'Sullivan was born on the 28th November 1868 in New York City. He was initially educated through the New York public school system before finishing his studies in England. As a young man he remained in London and travelled often to Paris.
O’Sullivan lived a very comfortable life with income from the family coffee business. He had no real need to work but decided that a literary lifestyle was for him.
In 1896 he released his first volume of supernatural fiction ‘A Book of Bargains’. Within its pages were classic stories that involved pacts with the Devil, reanimated corpses and psychic vampires.
Over the course of his career, he wrote a mere 10 volumes of short stories, novels, poetry together with some occasional criticism.
In 1909 his brother, who ran the company, entered its resources into some terribly mis-timed trades in coffee futures and ruin for both the company and the family quickly followed.
From now until his death O’Sullivan was destitute, life was exceedingly difficult.
Vincent O’Sullivan died on the 18th July 1940 in Paris. He was 71. He was buried in a paupers grave along with the remains of others.

It's spring 1942. Caroline Graham is six months pregnant, overweight, irritable, and most decidedly bored with her "delicate" condition. She hates being tied down and resents her husband Cyril and her cousin Edward for being off on assignment and having fun while she's confined to the village. She grows more restless each day, and her good friend and confidant Leslie Atwater does his best to boost her spirits but fails miserably. What Caroline needs is a problem to solve, "something juicy" to challenge her mind. And, of course, that's exactly what she gets.
Be careful what you wish for.
First there's a rash of poison pen letters circulating in the village. Librarian Elspeth Hunter receives a letter, and is the first to die, presumably by her own hand. Other deaths follow. Are the sudden deaths connected to the letters? As weeks pass and the bodies mount, Caroline and Leslie discover a pattern that suggests something more sinister is at work. With Leslie's help, Caroline must use all her cunning and put her life at risk to uncover a cold-blooded murderer -- a remorseless killer who continues to raise the stakes in a deadly game of malice.

The gargoyles of Dublin, Ireland, have a sacred duty to perform. Formerly God's avenging angels, for centuries they have been entrusted with guarding the churches and cathedrals of the Irish capital while avoiding all contact with human beings. But once a month these loyal stone sentries must leave their posts to attend a conclave of their kind, and it is during one such absence that a sacrilege occurs. The guardian of St. Patrick's Cathedral, the gargoyle Padraig, called "Paddy," has returned to find violence and vandalism committed at his church and two silver artifacts stolen. Taking to Dublin's night streets in search of a culprit, Paddy inadvertently reveals himself to an aged chauffeur in an ancient Rolls Royce, thereby dooming Francis Templeton to an impending premature death. But the grim reaper will have to wait, because old man Templeton is a member of the Knights of Malta, a secret order of defenders of the faith dating back to the Crusades, and as such is an ideal partner for the onetime angel in his quest for justice and revenge. Their hunt is about to take some sinister turns, however, leading the gargoyle and the knight to Clontarf Castle, where a major demon, an emissary of Satan, is preparing to make his reentrance into the world. An acclaimed and much beloved fantasist best known for her popular Adept and Knights Templar series and her chronicles of the magical Deryni, Katherine Kurtz now displays another side of her extraordinary talent and succeeds magnificently. St. Patrick's Gargoyle is a delightful feast of the imagination, rich in Celtic lore and religious arcana, and brimming with wit and heart, wonder and magic.

The path leads not to the monsters she expects, but into the heart of the forbidden Cinder District, a ghetto choked by ash and despair. Here, among the oppressed Gloomtouched she was trained to hate, she finds a terrible truth: the real monsters wear silver masks and wield the holy light of the Covenant she serves. The rebellion she sought to crush is led by a man who knows the true story of her past.
