    Preventing Nuclear Annihilation...

    Ronald Reagan

On March 23, 1983, President Ronald Reagan gave an address to the nation from the Oval Office challenging “the scientific community … to turn their great talents … to the cause of mankind and world peace, [and] to give us the means of rendering … nuclear weapons impotent and obsolete.” Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative to protect America from nuclear annihilation was derided by critics as an unworkable Star Wars program, and the Clinton Administration ended the Strategic Defense Initiative in 1993. There is no effective system in place today to protect the American population from incoming missiles from an expanding list of countries with nuclear capabilities.
On April 13, 2024, Iran launched, according to Wikipedia, “around 170 drones, over 30 cruise missiles, and more than 120 ballistic missiles toward Israel”. Israel and a coalition of partners, again according to Wikipedia, “destroyed 99 percent of the incoming weapons, most before they reached Israeli airspace.” Damage from the attack was minor. While Israel is protected by an Iron Dome, the United States has no such protection.
This audiobook includes 4 speeches by President Reagan: His address introducing the Strategic Defense Initiative in 1983, his address to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France in 1985, his address on national security in 1986, and his address on the Soviet-U.S. Summit in 1987.

"Shadow Dancing" is illuminating and transformative, with a passionate plea to shift from the conventional medical model to a more nuanced, trauma-aware, and integrated methodology.
Drawing from his rich experiences as a nurse in addiction treatment centres in the Netherlands and the UK, Paul du Buf champions the importance of a holistic understanding of addiction, exploring the complex interplay between trauma and addiction and articulating the significant steps required for services to transition successfully into becoming trauma-aware.
"Shadow Dancing" urges the inclusion of aspects of the Polyvagal model, Integral theory, and Internal Family Systems model into addiction treatments, adding depth to its narrative. This work is the culmination of Paul du Buf's years of knowledge and skill, amalgamated into a compelling blueprint for the future of addiction treatment. Number of pages: 110.

    Threat Multiplier - Climate...

Threat Multiplier takes us onto the battlefield and inside the Pentagon to show how the US military is confronting the biggest security risk in global history: climate change. More than thirty years ago, Sherri Goodman became the Pentagon's first chief environmental officer. Indeed, for much of the twentieth century, the Department of Defense (DOD) was better known for containing the Soviet nuclear threat than protecting the environment. And yet, today, the military has moved from an environmental laggard to a clean energy and climate leader, recognizing that a warming world exacerbates every threat—from hurricanes and forest fires, to competition for increasingly scarce food and water, to terrorism and power plays by Russia and China. The Pentagon now considers climate in war games, disaster relief planning, international diplomacy, and even the design of its own bases.

What was the key to this dramatic change in military thinking? What keeps today's generals and admirals up at night? How can we safeguard our national defense and our planet? No one is better poised to answer these questions than Sherri Goodman, who was at the vanguard of environmental leadership among our armed forces and civilian representatives. In Threat Multiplier, she tells the inside story of the military's fight for global security, a tale that is as hopeful as it is harrowing.

Delve into the fundamental principles that govern our universe with this comprehensive three-part volume exploring the bedrock theories of physics. From the elegant mathematics of motion to the mind-bending concepts of quantum mechanics, this meticulously crafted work provides both students and enthusiasts with a deep understanding of the laws that shape our physical reality.
Classical Mechanics unveils the mathematical framework that describes the motion of objects from subatomic particles to celestial bodies. Journey through Newton's laws of motion and universal gravitation to the sophisticated formulations of Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics. Discover how these principles not only explain everyday phenomena but also laid the groundwork for all subsequent physical theories.
Classical Electrodynamics illuminates the profound connection between electricity and magnetism unified by Maxwell's equations. Explore the behavior of electric and magnetic fields, electromagnetic waves, and the principles that enable modern technologies from power generation to telecommunications. Understand how these theories revolutionized our conception of physical reality and led to Einstein's special theory of relativity.
Concepts of Modern Physics bridges the gap between classical theories and the revolutionary ideas of 20th-century physics. Examine the quantum mechanical picture of the subatomic world, where particles exhibit wave-like properties and certainty gives way to probability. Explore special and general relativity, where time and space become relative concepts, and matter and energy reveal themselves as two aspects of the same fundamental reality.
This accessible yet rigorous volume features clear explanations, illustrative examples, and challenging problems that develop both intuitive understanding and mathematical facility.

Soil structure is the physical arrangement of particles and aggregates that form the soil matrix, affecting everything from root growth to water retention and air circulation. The fundamental components of soil include sand, silt, and clay, each contributing unique properties that define the texture and function of the soil. Understanding soil structure is crucial for anyone looking to improve or maintain soil health, as it directly influences the soil’s ability to support plant life.
The size of soil particles determines its texture, which in turn affects its drainage and nutrient-holding capacity. Sand particles are the largest, with relatively little ability to retain nutrients or water, but they allow for excellent drainage. Silt particles are smaller and retain water better, though they may also become compacted more easily. Clay, the smallest of the soil particles, holds both water and nutrients but can create a dense, heavy structure that may not drain well, especially when wet.
Soil texture influences its ability to hold nutrients and support plant growth. A balanced mixture of sand, silt, and clay—known as loam—is ideal for most plants, as it combines the drainage properties of sand with the nutrient and water retention capabilities of silt and clay. Loam provides the necessary balance of aeration, moisture, and nutrient availability for healthy root systems.
The way these particles aggregate into clusters—known as soil structure—is just as important as texture. Soil aggregates, or clumps of soil particles bound together by organic matter, create small spaces for air and water to flow through. This porosity is essential for maintaining soil health. Well-aggregated soil has good permeability and
