Sinossi

A memoir of spiritualism and self-discovery from the acclaimed, award-winning authorAt fifty, Alix Kates Shulman, author of the celebrated feminist novel, Memoirs of an Ex-Prom Queen, left a city life dense with political activism, family and literary community, and went to live alone on an island off the coast of Maine. On a windswept beach, in a cabin with no plumbing, power, or telephone, she found that she was learning to live all over again. In this luminous, spirited book, she charts her subsequent path as she learned not simply the joys of meditative solitude, but to integrate her new awareness into a busy, committed, even hectic mainland life.“A ten-year voyage of discovery . . . Shulman's honesty and sense of inquiry carry us with her all the way--could even, if we were willing, change our lives.” —San Francisco Sunday Examiner & Chronicle

Deep States limit our individual and collective potential and worsen our most pressing problems. You cannot fully understand Smollett’s scandal without understanding the Deep State that got him off---the first time, at least-- and tried to cover it up.
If you want to learn more about the Deep State and its players and its methods and all about Jussie Smollett and the most unusual, fascinating, and entertaining scandal, this book is for you.
I will present the facts about Jussie’s scandal, and I will present my opinions. I will also rebut people who lied to us about what happened and who continue to spread disinformation. Jussie must be criticized and punished according to law, not because of his skin color or his sexual orientation, but because of his character and behavior. On April 27, 2019, President Trump slammed Jussie as a third rate actor who disgraced a nation at a rally in Wisconsin. Earlier, he had called Jussie’s case an embarrassment not only to Chicago but the entire nation.
Jussie’s case teemed with menacing selfish intent. There is substantial evidence to show that he lied to the police and the media to create a hoax, and he lied, again and again, to cover it up. If true, he represents a form of hoaxing threat to our society that we don’t want to see spread. He could have incited race riots, even a race war, and this was his intent, perhaps to please Kamala Harris, as part of the Left’s Democrat and Communist race-baiting and race-exploiting agenda.

At age twenty-one, Andrea Palpant Dilley stripped the Christian fish decal off her car bumper in a symbolic act of departure from her religious childhood. At twenty-three, she left the church and went searching for refugein the company of men who left her lonely and friends who pushed the boundaries of what she once held sacred. In this deeply personal memoir, Andrea navigates the doubts that plague believers and skeptics alike: Why does a good God allow suffering? Why is God so silent, distant, and uninvolved? And why does the church seem so dysfunctional?Yet amid her skepticism, she begins to ask new questions: Could doubting be a form of faith? Might our doubts be a longing for God that leads to a faith we can ultimately live with?

The Power of Heart - Living with...

Amy Bloch, accomplished psychiatrist, busy and fully in control of her professional and family life, was dealt what she thought was a devastating, insurmountable set-back when her daughter Emily was born with a severe brain malformation. Amy tried desperately to “fix” Emily and exhausted herself in her efforts to deal with the “problem” using her intellect, going at it brain-first, the way we tend to approach any challenge in our society. Emily, by default, lives completely heart-first: She simply doesn’t have the capabilities to approach life brain-first.

The Power of Heart is the distillation of what Emily taught Amy—applicable to anyone’s life. While the brain is amazing, powerful, and also quite useful, it does come with limitations. And there’s some stuff the brain just doesn’t know, which is where the heart comes in. Tapping into the heart helps your brain perform better—and makes you stronger and smarter than you will ever be trusting only the brain.

The heart will allow you to live with uncertainty; find strength, resilience, courage, and persistence in tough times; know your true self; manage emotions; and cast off self-criticism and doubt.

Amy’s message of living heart-first, in conjunction with the brain, is presented in deeply thoughtful, life-affirming, inspiring, practical, and accessible chapters that will resonate with listeners of all ages and walks of life who are in search of coping strategies and self-improvement.
