A fine adventure set in 10th-century England at a time when everyday life in north was made hazardous by wars and shifting alliances among Saxon, British and Norse rulers. Thorstein, like his father Swein before him, is a peaceful Norse settler but brave and ready for battle when the time comes. His adventures as child and man will appeal to younger listeners, while older listeners can enjoy a history lesson into the bargain. W. G. Collingwood, artist and antiquarian, set the story in his adopted home of the Lake District, placing Thorstein's settlement at Greenodd on the southern shores of Cumbria and much of the action among the densely forested valleys and open moorland heights to the north - a much wilder region then than it is today. From "an important writer in every sense" (David Foster Wallace), a novel that imagines a future in which sweeping civil conflict has forced America's young people to flee its borders, into an unwelcoming world.

One such American is Ron Patterson, who finds himself on distant shores, working as a repairman and sharing a room with other refugees. In an unnamed city wedged between ocean and lush mountainous forest, Ron can almost imagine a stable life for himself. Especially when he makes the first friend he has had in years—a mysterious migrant named Marlise, who bears a striking resemblance to a onetime classmate.

Nearly a decade later—after anti-migrant sentiment has put their whirlwind intimacy and asylum to an end—Ron is living in "Little America," an enclave of migrants in one of the few countries still willing to accept them. Here, among reminders of his past life, he again begins to feel that he may have found a home. Ron adopts a dog, observes his neighbors, and lands a repairman job that allows him to move through the city quietly. But this newfound security is quickly jeopardized, as resurgent political divisions threaten the fabric of Little America. Tapped as an informant against the rise of militant gangs and contending with the appearance of a strangely familiar woman, Ron is suddenly on dangerous and uncertain ground.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES & JOHN WATSON
The case of the missing baby.

This completely new story I have written involves the 10 year old boys who will be the great detective Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, his assistant, when they grow up, this is their formative years where they perfect their skills before adulthood on what my appear to be inconsequential subjects, but the principle remains the same.

This is just one of an extensive series I will be publishing as audio books in the very near future and I do hope you enjoy this first one, and its only $1.25 cents, all subsequent will remain at that price as I would not like price to be a barrier to your enjoyment.

I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, a violin Holme's musical instrument of choice and is energetic and the closing music ends the tale on a more restrained mode and only about 1 minute.

The story itself runs to about 7 minutes 30 seconds and is of course a short story, it is read in my own voice.

The story involves the the disappearance of a baby, Albert just 2 months old, from his pram that Nanny Beatrice was responsible for. Albert was the son of the British Ambassador, Sir Eustace Carmichael, who lived in a magnificent Townhouse in Westminster. The baby was found hidden in a wardrobe upstairs to try and distract the Ambassador from his important work.
Needless to say Holmes solves the mystery, discovers baby Albert and is praised by Sir Eustace as being incredibly astute for his age.
The stories are designed to be entertaining to children of approximately the same age around 10 years old due to the characters involved.

I do hope you and you children, if applicable, enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come!

In Herland, Charlotte Perkins Gilman imagines a hidden utopia untouched by men for over two thousand years—an all-female society flourishing in peace, cooperation, and innovation. When three curious male explorers—Vandyck Jennings, Terry Nicholson, and Jeff Margrave—stumble upon this mysterious land, their expectations are upended by a civilization that thrives without war, dominance, or patriarchy.
Blending satire, social commentary, and speculative fiction, Herland critiques early 20th-century gender roles and envisions a radical rethinking of what a just and sustainable society could look like. As the men's values clash with those of Herland’s enlightened inhabitants, the novel challenges listeners to question long-held assumptions about gender, power, motherhood, and human potential.
This thought-provoking classic remains strikingly relevant today, offering a compelling exploration of feminism, societal design, and the possibility of true equality.

Beneath the Southern charm, Savannah's secrets are darker than its cobblestone streets.

US Marshal Katelyn Landers never expected her estranged sister-in-law, Vivienne Chandler, to show up on her doorstep, especially not with a chilling claim that her husband has emptied their bank accounts and vanished. But what begins as a shocking revelation takes a darker turn when Vivienne herself disappears in the dead of night, leaving behind three young children and a trail of unsettling questions.

As Katelyn juggles the demands of her job and the sudden responsibility of caring for three traumatized kids, she delves into the murky mystery of her missing family members. Every clue she uncovers only deepens the dangerous web of deceit, forcing Katelyn to confront a harrowing choice: protect her loved ones or bring the guilty to justice.

If the pulse-pounding suspense of Harlan Coben's The Stranger kept you on edge, Veronica Mixon's thriller Changing Sands will have you hooked from the first page.
