Summary of How to Avoid a Climate Disaster

There are two numbers you need to know when it comes to understanding climate change. The first is fifty billion-the number of greenhouse gasses we release into the atmosphere. The second is zero—the number of greenhouse gasses we need to release in the atmosphere to avoid catastrophic climate change problems. By working together, Gates thinks we can reach these lofty goals.
Gates began by looking at per-capita income as it related to energy uses and found that the higher the per capita income of a country, the higher the amount of energy that country used. Since energy consumption equaled about 27% of the greenhouse gasses emitting, this would be an important part of the puzzle-but it wouldn’t be the only part.
Gates developed three beliefs about energy consumption and climate change. First, to avoid a climate disaster we have to get down to zero greenhouse gasses. Second, we need to employ the tools we have (like wind and solar energy) smarter and faster. Third, we need to find new technology that can take us the rest of the way.
To solve the energy crisis, we have to start by investing in clean energy and getting money out of the fuel, oil, and coal industries. Money speaks, and if we can make it so that it’s financially beneficial to switch to clean energy, then we may see those greenhouse gases eliminated.
For a long time, people have said that we need to fly and drive less to decrease the number of greenhouse gases that enter our atmosphere. However, as the COVID-19 pandemic hit globally, we found people doing just that, but our rates of carbon emissions only went down about 5%. This would be a significant amount of it was sustainable and each year saw similar decreases, however, it is not significant enough to prevent climate disasters.
This book will not only tell you how to best use the energy you have and how to create clean energy in your homes, but it will also tell you what plans to follow to help prevent disastrous climate change and some of the newest technological ideas that are primed to help make a huge difference.

During the years of 1995-2008 I fought the law (Secondary School Administrators) and the law won. I taught with my heart and not my head. I gave my all but did not know this was not allowed. I was nominated Teacher of the Year Twice. Yet lost it because I was teaching out of my area. I left twice in the middle of the year, well three times because the Law was not doing its job. This is a book I feel every new teacher or even a veteran should read. It is a tale all, no holds barred, except changing the names, locations to protect from any law suits. At first I labeled this “Teaching Black While White” because many districts I worked in were minority based or “At Risk.” Now I must warn my readers; this is a male Caucasian teacher not realizing this game is ruled by the opposite sex. Though most of my enemies were male Principals. I will be able to give you some subtle guides as to what to do and what not to do at any school. This book is dedicated to students every where who are stereo typed as low achievers. Also to teachers or educators who are thinking of giving up; don't give them the satisfaction. Stay in the game! Every morning James Christie puts on a blue rugby shirt and jeans. His wardrobe is full of identical outfits. Every day he eats the same meal and drinks from the same mug. These are not ingrained habits, but survival strategies. For James, coping with new experiences feels like smashing his head through a plate glass window. The only relief comes from belting the heavy bag at the boxing club or watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He's an autistic man lost in a neuro-typical world. Differently wired. Alien. Despite a high IQ, it seems he'll spend the next 20 years cleaning toilets. But then his life takes an amazing turn - from a Glasgow tenement to a rendezvous with a Hollywood star on Sunset Boulevard. On that road trip across America, the man who feels he lacks a soul will find it. Eight time zones and 5,000 miles away, he has a date with the actress who played Drusilla, the kooky vampire who changed his life when he saw her in a Buffy episode. Drusilla has no soul either. And maybe that's the attraction. But Drusilla is fictional. The lady he'll see on Sunset is Juliet Landau. She's real, and that's a very different proposition...

About the hand of Ermengarde Stubbs, the daughter of a moonshiner and a farmer, two lovers are vying – the landowner Hardman and Ermengarde's childhood friend, Jack Manly. The former, ominous and unscrupulous, desires Ermengarde's hand solely because there is a vein of gold on her parents' estate (of which the landowners are unaware).A parody of Horatio Alger's romantic-adventure novels about achieving the American Dream. It could also mock Fred Jackson, who wrote sentimental stories for "The Argosy" magazine.
