Sinossi

On the morning of 7 March 1997, the bodies of two elderly female patients were discovered in their sheltere accommodation at Grangegorman Psychiatric Hospital in Dublin. It would be a further 16 years before Mark Nash was convicted of the notorious Grangegorman murders, but not before Dean Lyons, an innocent man, spent months in prison for a crime he did not commit, only to tragically die of a heroin overdose before his name was cleared. Here Alan Bailey, a retired member of the Garda Síochána who worked on the original case and who always insisted Lyons was innocent, recalls the investigation of the most brutal murders in Irish criminal history, and how pressure on the Garda Síochána to solve the crime led to one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in the history of the Irish state.

At 4' 9" 97lbs Richard Flaherty is believed to be the smallest man to ever serve in the U.S. military. Needing a congressional waiver just to join the Army he achieved the impossible by becoming a Green Beret Captain and a Vietnam vet war hero earning the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Hearts. - 101st Airborne & 3rd Special Forces Group.
Author and police officer David Yuzuk befriended Richard J. Flaherty in 1999, when Flaherty was living homeless on the streets of Miami. Flaherty warned Yuzuk that asking too many questions about his secretive life could be bad for Yuzuk’s career and dangerous to his own health. Sure enough, eight hours after Yuzuk made a call to confirm Flaherty’s identity, Flaherty was killed in a hit-and-run and that sets the stage for a bewildering plummet down a rabbit hole of CIA conspiracies, and shadow governments. It would be the last investigation in Yuzuk's twenty-year police career, stretching from the bloody jungles of Vietnam to the dangerous streets of Iraq and Venezuela.
In riveting rifle, rucksack style author, David Yuzuk takes you deep into the jungles of Vietnam to walk in the combat boots of America’s smallest soldier, Richard Flaherty. Starting with the bloody Tet Offensive, Flaherty and his units are engaged in harrowing non-stop action. Written with extensive access to surviving members of the 101st Airborne and 3rd Special Forces Group, on-the-ground eye-witness, family members and friends, as well as archival, and declassified military records, Yuzuk has created a gripping narrative of Richard Flaherty’s inspiring life and career. Yuzuk also releases never published information of a covert operation Flaherty worked in order to locate and recover a recently declassified stolen weapon of mass destruction (Project Green Light).
#1 New York Times best seller - Author Doug Stanton "Giant Killers are among us-- author David Yuzuk walked with one and returned with this tale.”

In 1799, the murder of a young woman caused a terrific stir in the city of New York. The victim was Gulielma Sands who, on December 22, left the boardinghouse where she lived, never to return. Her bruised body was found several days later in the Manhattan Well, a twenty-minute carriage ride from her home. The accused was Levi Weeks, a fellow boarder who, Miss Sands had claimed, was to marry her the night she disappeared. Two of the attorneys for the defense were Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton, friends of Ezra Weeks, a prominent builder and brother of the accused. The citizens of New York raised an enormous hue and cry over the murder: the body was displayed in the streets before the trail; mobs shoved their way into the courtroom to see the famous lawyers at work and to get a glimpse of the accused; and—when the verdict was read—few felt that justice had been done. This book tells the story of the trial of Levi Weeks and includes the entire transcript of the first American murder trial ever recorded. It is at once a riveting retelling of a true crime in which the voices of early New Yorkers come to us freshly from over two centuries, and a riveting legal and social history of New York in the early years of the Republic.

NOW A FIVE-PART HBO SERIES, STARRING WOODY HARRELSON AND JUSTIN THEROUXThe true story of The White House Plumbers, a secret unit inside Nixon's White House, and their ill-conceived plans stop the leaking of the Pentagon Papers, and how they led to Watergate and the President's demise. On July 17, 1971, Egil “Bud” Krogh was summoned to a closed-door meeting by his mentor—and a key confidant of the president—John Ehrlichman. Expecting to discuss the most recent drug control program launched in Vietnam, Krogh was shocked when Ehrlichman handed him a file and the responsibility for the Special Investigations Unit, or SIU, later to be notoriously known as “The Plumbers.”The Plumbers’ work, according to Nixon, was critical to national security: they were to investigate the leaks of top secret government documents, including the Pentagon Papers, to the press. Driven by blind loyalty, diligence, and dedication, Krogh, along with his co-director, David Young, set out to handle the job, eventually hiring G. Gordon Liddy and E. Howard Hunt, who would lead the break-in to the office of Dr. Fielding, a psychiatrist treating Daniel Ellsberg, the man they suspected was doing the leaking. Krogh had no idea that his decisions would soon lead to one of the most famous conspiracies in presidential history and the demise of the Nixon administration. The White House Plumbers is Krogh’s account of what really happened behind the closed doors of the Nixon White House, and how a good man can make bad decisions, and the redemptive power of integrity. Including the story of how Krogh served time and later rebuilt his life, The White House Plumbers is gripping, thoughtful, and a cautionary tale of placing loyalty over principle.A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin’s Press.

In June 2017, a woman picnicking in the Wicklow Mountains stumbled upon something in a ditch that would set in motion a chain of events that horrified the nation. It was the first of fifteen dismembered body parts belonging to retired hospital worker Patricia O'Connor.
Kieran Greene, the father of three of Patricia's grandchildren, later handed himself in, confessing to beating her to death in the home they shared in what he said was an act of self-defence. He also confessed to dismembering her and disposing of her remains but later changed his story, implicating several members of Patricia's household, including her husband and daughter.
In this nuanced and meticulous account of a deeply disturbing crime, award-winning journalist and Courts Correspondent for Newstalk and Today FM Frank Greaney uncovers the story behind the gruesome murder of Patricia O'Connor, and looks at who Patricia really was through exclusive follow-up interviews with other members of her family.

The compelling story of Britain's biggest gunrunning investigation, known as 'Operation Abonar', is based on real events that have remained mostly unreported for twenty-five years. It is told from a personal perspective by the former Detective Inspector who led the enquiry as his first major Scotland Yard investigation. Only weeks before he had joined the shadowy 'Directorate of Intelligence, SO11 Branch'. The context is 1997, a time of escalating gangland violence in Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin and London. Rivals are fighting over drugs and turf, seeking to settle feuds with fully automatic machine guns needing thousands of rounds ofammunition. Some are also wanting silencers to surprise their enemies in drive-by shootings. Others have got hold of even heavier weaponry not previously seen in the UK.
