Sinossi

The fault lines that flaw the surface of our lives will sometimes break away the hard, unserviceable parts of us, revealing strengths that lead to a better existence. Occasionally, it can even lead to new love. This collection combines all six stories in A.F. Henley's best-selling MM romance series, Fault Lines, into one box set.
Contains the stories:
Coloring Outside the Lines: After moving to a small town, Rory has regrets. As his partner gets more distant, Rory feels time, happiness, and his career slipping away. After another argument, Rory ends up in a bar where he meets a beautiful, young local, Danny Weber. As their friendship grows, so do Rory's feelings, even though he's more than aware he's going to have to make a decision.
A New Finish Line: When Gabe Devries loses his partner, he's not sure how to cope. Once again, he's destroyed a good thing. Jeff Rideau is an old friend, but he's also a psychologist, known Gabe since they were kids, and won't tolerate Gabe's posturing. If anyone can get Gabe and his ex back together, it's Jeff. Yet the longer Jeff tries, the more Gabe realizes that might not be what either of them want or need.

Straddling the Line: Scott Riley spent his childhood waiting for the day he could leave town, but that was until Sid's Tavern came up for sale. With a bit of money, a lot of hard work, and some help, Scott is confident he can make it successful. Lee Warner has a dark, but he's sober, hungry, and willing to try anything to change his life. Scott may be just the thing he needs. Too bad Scott's straight.

Crossed Lines: Aaron Fielde has no idea what love is, even though he's managed to fake it his entire life. A car accident leads him to Dante Hyako, heir to the Hyako hotel fortune, and while Dante is classy, sexy, and elicits feelings in Aaron that Aaron didn't think he was capable of, Aaron can't shake the feeling that something isn't right.

Realignment: Finally clean and out of jail, Blake is ready to find his ex and start over. Instead, he finds Lee with a new man. Connor is hoping that Blake's surprise arrival might provide the help he needs on his farm. As their unexpected attraction grows, Scott can only wonder what's going to happen when Connor's son Scott finds out he's the man Scott believes ruined his lover's life.

Waiting in Line: As Dante's assistant, Tristan isn't surprised when Dante asks him to travel along to a country wedding reception. Or that Gavin, Dante's security officer and Tristan's archenemy, is coming as well. Gavin is sexy and smart, but he drives Tristan crazy. However, as they start to learn a bit more about each other, Tristan isn't sure if the disgust he's been feeling for Gavin is really hate at all.

Keep Your Friends Close—and Your Enemies Closer.
A murderous fall down icy stairs is nearly all she wrote for Anna Hitchcock, the “American Agatha Christie.” The cry for help from his old mentor cuts short mystery author Kit Holmes’ romantic weekend with his new lover J.X. Moriarity, and lands him an amateur sleuth gig in an elegant snowbound mansion in the isolated Berkshires.

In Ten Bridges I've Burnt, Brontez Purnell—the bard of the underloved and overlooked—turns his gaze inward. A storyteller with a musical eye for the absurdity of his own existence, he is peerless in his ability to find the levity within the stormiest of crises. Here, in his first collection of genre-defying verse, Purnell reflects on his peripatetic life, whose ups and downs have nothing on the turmoil within. "The most high-risk homosexual behavior I engage in," Purnell writes, "is simply existing."

The thirty-eight autobiographical pieces pulsing in Ten Bridges I've Burnt find Purnell at his no-holds-barred best. He remembers a vicious brawl he participated in at a poetry conference and reckons with packaging his trauma for TV writers' rooms; wrestles with the curses, and gifts, passed down from generations of family members; and chronicles, with breathless verve, a list of hell-raising misadventures and sexcapades. Through it all, he muses on everything from love and loneliness to capitalism and Blackness to jogging and the ethics of art, always with unpredictable clarity and movement.

With the same balance of wit and wisdom that made 100 Boyfriends a sensation, Purnell unleashes another collection of boundary-pushing writing with Ten Bridges I've Burnt, a book as original and thrilling as the author himself.

A STRIKING MEMOIR OF GENDERFLUIDITY, CLASS, AND THE AMERICAN SOUTHWEST

Newly arrived in the Sonoran Desert, eleven-year-old Zoë enters a world of giant beetles, thundering javelinas, and gnarled palo verde trees. In Cactus Country RV Park, Zoë has been given a fresh start and a new, shorter haircut. Although Zoë doesn’t have the words to express it, he experiences life as a trans boy—and here, others begin to see him as a boy, too. Zoë spends hot days chasing shade and freight trains with an ever-rotating pack of sunburned desert kids, and nights fending off his own questions about the body underneath his baggy clothes.

As Zoë enters adolescence, he must reckon with the sexism, racism, substance abuse, and violence endemic to the working-class men he’s grown close to, whose hard masculinity seems as embedded in the desert landscape as the cacti sprouting from parched earth. In response, Zoë adopts an androgynous style and new pronouns, but still cannot escape what it means to live in a gendered body, particularly when a fraught first love destabilizes their sense of self. But beauty flowers in this desert, too. Zoë persists in searching for answers, dreaming of a day they might leave the park behind to embrace whatever awaits beyond.

Equal parts harsh and tender, Cactus Country is a precisely rendered journey of self-determination that will resonate with anyone who’s ever had to fight to be themself.

“Cactus Country shimmers with the complexity of becoming. Zoë Bossiere writes their way into a truer story of selfhood, resisting the simpler narratives the world demanded. The result is lush, beautiful, and deeply liberating.”—Alex Marzano Lesnevich, author of The Fact of a Body
