Sinossi

In the valley of Verdant Hollow, where ancient tea trees whisper secrets to the wind, magic flows as delicate and precious as the Eternal Brew. But a hairline fracture in the heart of their community, the centuries-old brewing kettle, threatens to shatter their tranquility.  The Brew, once a source of life and joy, now twists into a corrupting force, turning whimsical sprites into desperate addicts and lush gardens into venomous traps.Elara Thistlewick, a young teapot mender haunted by a tragic past, understands the silent language of enchanted objects.  With her constant companion, Pip, a timid snail carrying his apothecary ancestors' miniature greenhouse, she embarks on a perilous quest to find the legendary First Blend, the only remedy for the ailing kettle.  Their journey begins in the Whispering Woods, where shadowy dream-drinkers feed on the villagers' anxieties and corrupted tea sprites hoard the last uncorrupted leaves. Elara, to gain their aid, must confront not only their addiction but also the lingering guilt that mirrors their own struggle.Their search leads them to a sentient tea garden, twisted by corrupted magic into a labyrinth of venomous thorns and hallucinogenic pollen.  Here, Pip’s fear of heights becomes his unexpected strength, propelling him to new heights of bravery.  Next, they face the Squirrel Scribes, ancient guardians of tea lore, who demand not a display of tea-tasting skills, but a confrontation with Elara's buried grief.  Through a poignant tea ceremony, she unearths the unspoken truths of a fateful day, finding a bittersweet acceptance of loss and a fragmented map leading to the final ingredient: the elusive Aurora Lily.Under the crimson glow of a blood moon, a desperate race against time ensues.  Elara and Pip find themselves pursued by a shadowy cult, not just passively benefiting from the kettle's failing magic, but actively manipulating it for their own nefarious purposes. Pip, emboldened by his newfound courage, orchestrates a clever diversion as Elara, guided by fireflies, harvests the precious dewdrops of the Aurora Lily.As the First Blend steeps, Elara and Pip realize the true magic lies not just in rare ingredients, but in the bond forged through shared vulnerability and bitter truths.  But the mended kettle is not the ending, but a prelude. The golden lines sealing the fracture reveal a chilling prophecy: the corruption has spread, tainting the very roots of the tea

Triggerman by J. F. Bone - The essential requirements of a first-class triggerman are two: that he know how to pull the trigger–and when not to!
Jesse Franklin Bone was born in Tacoma Washington in 1916. Before he was an author Bone was a veterinarian, and a professor of veterinary medicine, served in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps, attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel and retiring in 1976. His first short story, Survival Type, didn't appear in Galaxy Science Fiction until he was 41, in 1957.
About 30 short stories and 5 novels later his 21 year career as an author came to an end. Triggerman first appeared in Astounding Science Fiction in December 1958. It was in Astounding in the UK in March of 1959. Three months later it could be found in the Dell Paperback The Year’s Greatest Science Fiction and Fantasy: 4th Annual Volume and almost 30 other publications around the world.
Which would lead you to believe that this is a really good story. It is, so much so that it was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Short Story in 1959.

“An absolute treasure. Vibrant, charming, and absolutely real.”—Olugbemisola Rhuday-Perkovich, author of Operation Sisterhood
Two best friends discover the danger and power of secrets in this pitch perfect standalone from the acclaimed author of Just Like Jackie and Brave Like That.
Not every friendship can be the real deal, but for Gabe and Oliver, that’s never been a question.
Until now. Things still feel the same on the surface—they’re even making a comic about their friendship—but lately Oliver’s acting like he might be hiding something.
And then there’s Reuben, the new boy who just moved to town. He doesn’t talk—not ever. The other kids say mean things and call him names behind his back. Gabe knows it isn’t right—but he and Oliver stay quiet, or worse, laugh along with the others just to keep from standing out.
Through the character he and Oliver create in their comic adventure, the experience they have babysitting twin toddlers, and with the help of a troublemaking seventh grader who gets sent to their sixth-grade class, Gabe begins to find his voice and become the realest-deal version of his own self. But if he does that—can he still hold onto his best friend, too?
Perfect for fans of Lisa Graff and Linda Mullaly Hunt, this novel from Lindsey Stoddard, whose stories were lauded as “remarkable” by the New York Times Book Review, will have fans new and old hooked.
