Summary

A thriller novel is a novel that uses suspense, excitement, apprehension and exhilaration to tell a story. Thriller novels have villains, suspense, and action in settings such as espionage, medicine, crime, politics, and high tech.

They often involve life and death situations and have high stakes, like the control of the world or the possibility of widespread death or destruction.

Many times innocent people are victimized, stalked, or caught in situations that are beyond their control.
Characters have to overcome obstacles, either alone or with a small group of people, and stop some catastrophe from happening. Thrillers usually have a happy ending.

This book is a special collection of twenty best thriller novels which are going to embark you on a journey to the world of suspense, action, shock and fear.

Young Chuan lives with his father in the beautiful palace of a powerful Chinese warlord. As a reward for his cleverness in solving the warlords puzzle, Father is given the job of tallying the warlords treasure--brilliant jewels, rich brocades, and spices from a thousand lands. Life at the palace is luxurious but filled with so many interruptions Father often loses count! The varying totals lead the suspicious warlord to accuse him of stealing, and Father is about to lose hope. Just in time, Chuan discovers a special use for the warlords lovely jade beads--a use that will help Father keep an accurate tally, and cause the warlord to pronounce Chuan as clever as his Father. Often used by teachers of the primary grades to illustrate the powerful concept of "base ten," various types of counting frames appeared in China during the Middle Ages. The Warlords Beads is a valuable tool for introducing young readers to the wonder of numbers as well as the beauty and mystery of ancient China.
