Summary

The people of the Seven Demesnes live in unease. Every generation, seven sons are born to rule their seven walled cities. Without them, mankind is fated to fall.
Now, something is killing them before they can be born.

When Iminique Demascus senses a nameless evil striking at the unborn royal children, she has to make a choice. A noblewoman and a healer in a world where aristocrats and mages belong to different castes, she is forbidden by her father to ever heal. Breaking his dictate, she saves a single girl child.
No one thanks her. Neither the child’s parents nor the people want a girl, reviling her for surviving when the males perished. Left as the princess’s sole protector and faced with adversity and hostility from nearly every quarter, Iminique allies herself with the wizard who once dragged her to the brink of death and then inexplicably let her go; a wizard who has his own secret agenda and casts spells that should be impossible.
Meanwhile, in the south, a young sorceress falls prey to an ancient enemy, one weaving his own plans for bringing mankind to its knees.

Shakespeare has never been this sexy!

One evening when helping a colleague stage The Merchant of Venice, English professor Jessica Randall slides momentarily back to 1598. Later that night, she lands for good in the chambers of one William Shakespeare, a down-on-his luck playwright.

His biggest problem of late has been a non-stop stream of Jessicas apparating into his chambers nightly. Yet Jessica's appearance halts the visitations, though neither have a clue why. Can she get back to 2018? They don't know that either, and together they begin to craft a life together, all the while trying to break the time travel curse and avoid falling in love.

As Jessica grapples with practical (what is and how does one put on a farthingale?) and emotional (how to risk your heart when everything might disappear in an instant?) aspects of adapting to Elizabethan London, she must try to solve the mystery of the other Jessicas. More importantly, she must figure out how to get home without suffering from the broken heart she knows she can't avoid.

Despite being thwarted at every turn, Jessica manages to navigate her new world and her old one and save not only herself but Will Shakespeare and his legacy.

Sanclen hates everything about Christmas. Too bad he’s stuck as Santa until he “earns” his repentance. But when Santa’s Orb reveals the elf's newest torment – a mandated case he’s to solve – he has no choice but to go into the seething heart of humanity: the abode of a sexy single mother and her child.

Mari can’t believe she found a lunatic hiding in her adopted son’s room. The arrogant man claims to not only be an elf but also Santa. Admittedly, he’s a fine specimen of male beauty. He doesn’t look anything like Old St. Nick nor does he resemble the little toy makers the North Pole is famous for.

After Sanclen spirits them away to Claus Village in Antarctica, she and Sanclen trade barbs and struggle not to fall in love. But he’s running out of time to find out what lies at the heart of his case if he wants to save the young family that has come to mean so much to him.

This is a short story of approx. 14,250 words and has been previously published under the title of Santa for Christmas.
