Summary

Proud. Imperious. Impassioned.
Until three years ago, those words applied to Dominic Asher, the leader of Ash Valley. His family has ruled the feline branch of the Animari for hundreds of years, guiding the pride through perilous times. Unspeakable loss drove him into seclusion, a feral beast nobody can tame. Now he's wrecked, a leopard king in exile, and he wants nothing more than to die.
Fierce. Loyal. Determined.
Fortunately for Dom, those words still apply to Pru Bristow, his dead mate's best friend. She's had her heart broken too, but she never quits. With the conclave approaching, alliances with the Pine Ridge pack and Burnt Amber clans on the verge of collapse, she's prepared to do whatever it takes to drag their leader back, before his second can start a war.
At best theirs seems like a desperate alliance, but when their mate bond turns hot and fierce, there's no end to the questions and the doubts. Neither of them expects to fall in love. But sometimes people don't know what they're looking for until they find it.

A thrilling romance of fifteenth-century Scotland by a New York Times–bestselling author! Bestselling Author Hannah Howell returns to the splendor of medieval Scotland in this first novel of her new trilogy—a saga of clan warfare, divided loyalties, and forbidden love. Here, in the Scottish highlands of the fifteenth century, a powerful knight meets his match in a mysterious beauty bent on revenge. When destiny brought Sir Balfour Murray and his wounded brother down the same road as Maldie Kirkaldy, she offered her services as a nurse even as she tried to deny the desire this dark-eyed knight had ignited at first sight. Soon they discover that they both share a mission of vengeance, but Maldie cannot tell him her true identity--to do so would brand her a spy. Sworn to avenge his family as chief of the Doncoill Clan, Balfour vows to destroy his greatest foe, with Maldie at his side. Yet Balfour knows that he can no more afford to trust her than he can ignore his lust for this sultry beauty. Now, he is not only determined to unearth her deepest secrets, but also to pursue his passion for her. And nothing will stand in his way.

    * * *
I rounded the corner and stopped. Austin sat on the edge of the stone planter box, feet dangling, clutching a brown paper bag with the neck of a wine bottle sticking out the top.
“Surprise,” Austin said meekly, holding up his offering.
Raising my eyebrow, I held my hand out for the bottle. It was an expensive label, one I’d always wanted to try, but shied away from because of its cost. What did he do for a living that he could afford it?
“What surprise? That you’re half an hour early and waiting on me? Wrong. It’s no surprise at all.” I swiped my keycard and opened the door. Austin didn’t move. “Are you coming in?”
He hopped off the planter and followed me inside to the obscene luxury of the suite. I’d really splurged on my accommodations, or so I thought. That bottle Austin had said maybe I was in the slum section of the resort.
My little suite had a king-size bed with linens so soft and smooth that last night I easily imagined I slept on clouds. An amazing spa bathroom housed a tub big enough for four large men, a gas fireplace for when you were hosting a party in that fiberglass pool, and a shower with twelve—count ’em twelve—pulsating showerheads. Total climate control was possible, or all the windows and skylights opened to allow the breeze through. The high-definition television had a satellite hookup with a full sports channel package, and an equally state-of-the-art sound system provided the complete spectrum of music at the push of a few buttons.
I also had a copy of the extensive wine list and menu, and nowhere did that high-end winery appear.
“So, Austin, where’d you get the wine?”
His mouth dropped open, and the hand not clutching the bottle clutched at his chest. “Wine? I gasp at the audacity of your words! This is not just wine—it’s the nectar of the gods.”
“I’ve heard about this Bordeaux, you know. Is this part of some after-dinner seduction plan?”
Austin tilted his head and flashed me a sly grin. “Don’t you want to be seduced?”

“I’m going to tell you a story about an ordinary human chica who wanted to be a sincere and serious person and how she met a nest of vampires who became her dear friends. No, it isn’t a tragedy. For though the girl wanted to be sincere and serious, she adored silliness, and luckily for her, tragedy has no interest in the silly.”

    Love and Betrayal…Regency Style
Madeline Munrove’s mother instilled three truths in her daughter. These truths were as follows: First, men were basically useless creatures driven by decisions calculated below the waist. Second, women were far superior in intelligence and fortitude. And third, women must pretend the first and second were untrue if they hoped to navigate in a society ruled by such worthless creatures.
Enter Douglas Fontaine, a man whose life is ruled by logic and analysis. Such behavior is the reason he has created a ‘test’ which prospective brides must pass in order to gain consideration for the position of ‘wife’. When a chance game of cards with a scoundrel wins him a country estate, Douglas has no idea Madeline resides at the estate or that his very ordered existence is about to be upended.
As Madeline and Douglas attempt to determine the true nature and secrets of the other, they will soon learn that no amount of calculation will account for the moment when logic collides with passion…
