POEMS FOR HALLOWEEN – An Introduction. I should be whispering this because Halloween is almost upon us. A time of Witches, Ghouls and Hauntings and all kinds of scary things that come out the evening before All Saints Day to wreak….…… I’m glad you’re listening so let us begin- Many of us remember that feeling from childhood when an adult or even our friends would tell us scary stories of things that go bump in the night. It was a time to scare and be scared and no matter how terrifying the stories were it was a good feeling punctuated by yelps and laughs. Halloween is now firmly established in the Calendar as a favourite; to go trick or treating and an excuse for kids everywhere to dress up in outlandish attire and collect vast quantities of sweets. Equally adults everywhere are prone to switch off the lights and pretend to be out! In our collection the poems show that words have been used to enthral and suggest dark mysterious forces beyond our control for quite some time. With authors of the ability of Keats, Poe, Byron, Sheehan & Shakespeare, to nourish these primeval fears the poems have an unsettling nature as all bad things should! This collection of poems is read to you by Ghizela Rowe & Gideon Wagner.

In 'The Swan Song' an aging actor reminisces about his life and the parts he's played. The piece takes a tragic look at ambition and the sacrifices that must be made in order to succeed. Chekhov’s ability to capture and explore human nature and experience is showcased here. Imagine if famous playwright William Shakespeare had been haunting theaters since his death, just to see how his plays were being treated. What might he say about the productions he has seen for over 400 years, the actors he has watched, and his own life? The setting for Shakespeare's Ghost is an unnamed theater during a terrible production of Hamlet. Rather than let us suffer through the bad acting, Shakespeare materializes and shares with us the story of his life, his work, and productions of his plays through the centuries. J.T. Turner brings the Bard to life in this adapted audio version of his successful one-man stage show.

Just like 100 Great Indian Poems, 100 More Great Indian Poems brings forth the richness and diversity of poetry that exists in India's myriad languages and dialects. It also highlights the achievements of Indian poetry written in English by Indian poets at home as well as those in the diaspora and how they have turned English, once a foreign language, into their own. In these uniquely Indian poems there is abundance of light, irony, sensuousness and spirituality.
