Summary

The thing about running any type of equipment is more than the cost of the equipment and installation. It's all the other stuff that most magazines and articles won't cover. It's the delays, permitting, acquisition, and approvals needed to be managed. These are necessary evils for any deployment. Just ask any carrier. Therefore they are adamant about fighting local jurisdictions for the small cell costs of permitting and rent.
This is all before you deploy one thing, pay for one piece of equipment, or even design the backhaul. It needs to be worked through, and chances are it will be around 10% to 25% of the cost. If you're talking small cells, then it could be 50% to 75% of the cost.
The thing about running fiber everywhere is not the fiber itself. It is the costs associated with running the fiber. In fact, anything you deploy has high costs. Building towers and adding a radio to a pole has a high cost. While you may think it's the installation and design, that is a small portion. It's all the civil work and the acquisition paperwork that needs to be done to make it happen.
Costs for utility, permitting, site acquisition, and more all add up. You will need a team of project managers and engineers to manage this. You will need a construction manager to go to the site to verify things are happening per the plan, paperwork, and schedule.
Before companies spend money on any deployment, they have to overcome the hurdles of planning. They need to worry about what and how they deploy, what they will attach to or where, they will bury the fiber. Chances are the end customer will put things out to bid or reverse auction to drive costs down. One thing you learn is that loyalty is disappearing in this new business arena. It's a fight to get the business then a struggle to maintain margin. All the liability is put on the front line, the installers.

Finding meaning in trauma work, as a traumatized healer yourself. The act of caregiving is physically exhausting and emotionally draining, yet caregivers describe it as rewarding and gratifying. Prolonged exposure to human suffering, however, is not without risks—caregivers report high rates of burnout and poor quality of life. Many care providers believe that their feelings do not matter; that they should ignore their pain, brush off their trauma, wipe away their tears, and just "suck it up." Here, Omar Reda—a Libyan-born American psychiatrist who as an emergency physician and trauma counselor provided care for medical staff caring for victims of trauma—calls upon other healers to break free from cycles of secrecy, toxic stress, and silent suffering so they can continue to empower and inspire those in their care.Filled with poignant first-person stories and clinical case studies, this book is an impassioned plea for psychosocial trauma care that prioritizes the health of both client and healer.

The Sensory Order - An Inquiry...

The Nobel Prize-winning economist explores how the mind works—an early landmark in the field of cognitive science.  The Sensory Order, first published in 1952, sets forth F. A. Hayek's classic theory of mind in which he describes the mental mechanism that classifies perceptions that cannot be accounted for by physical laws. Though Hayek is more commonly known as an icon in the field of economics, his genius was wide-ranging—and his contribution to theoretical psychology is of continuing significance to cognitive scientists as well as to economists interested in the interplay between psychology and market systems, and has been addressed in the work of Thomas Szasz, Gerald Edelman, and Joaquin Fuster. “A most encouraging example of a sustained attempt to bring together information, inference, and hypothesis in the several fields of biology, psychology, and philosophy.”—Quarterly Review of Biology

A sweeping history of the Mississippi River—and the centuries of human meddling that have transformed both it and America.Over thousands of years, the Mississippi watershed was home to millions of Indigenous people who regarded "the great river" with awe and respect, adorning its banks with astonishing spiritual earthworks. But European settlers and American pioneers had a different vision: the river was a foe to conquer. In this landmark work of natural history, Boyce Upholt tells the epic story of human attempts to own and contain the Mississippi River, from Thomas Jefferson's expansionist land hunger through today's era of environmental concern. He reveals how an ambitious and sometimes contentious program of engineering—government-built levees, jetties, dikes, and dams—has not only damaged once-vibrant ecosystems, but may not work much longer, and explores how scientists are scrambling to restore what's been lost. Rich and powerful, The Great River delivers a startling account of what happens when we try to fight against nature instead of acknowledging and embracing its power.
