Synopsis

The word which means ‘fairy tale’ in Russian is transliterated into English as ‘skazka’. In the 19th century the Russian folklore began to be collected and systematized. The hugest work in this sphere was done by the Slavist Alexander Afanasyev. His compendium contains the most beautiful and interesting tales of the Russian folk. This is a story of a bun baked by old man and woman, which started to roll down the road meeting different animals wishing to eat it, but the bun could always outwit them and roll away. A rabbit, a wolf and a bear couldn’t catch the little rolling bun, until he met the animal known for its cunning and craftiness – fox. Who is smarter? Read the story and find it out.
