Summary

Dannie has plans. She’s going to get the internship at the fancy law firm and she’s going to make something of herself. She’s even got her beanie-wearing boyfriend, Nick, supporting her. It seems like everything is going well for Dannie, until she gets a call from her mom. With a wedding to go to and a new stepbrother, can she still keep her head in the game and get the internship, or will it all be a little too much? People Dannie once trusted prove themselves to be unworthy. People Dannie once hated have started to show her a new side to them. As her world turns upside down she must find the strength to continue so that she can ace her internship interview. But how strong can any one person be and how much can she really take, before she breaks? Things between Dannie and Max are starting to heat up, but when his father stands in the way of her getting her dream job, their new-found relationship comes into jeopardy. Will Dannie be able to hold onto her job when everything is aligned against her? And, more importantly, will Max be able to keep hold of Dannie?

There is no doubt that we are in the middle of a transition to a knowledge-based economy. Breakthrough technologies in microelectronics, biotechnology, new materials, telecommunications, robotics, and computers are fundamentally changing the game of creating wealth. While these new industries are growing explosively, existing industries such as banking and retail are being transformed beyond recognition. As a result, a new global economy is emerging to replace existing national economies. What will it take for individuals, companies, and entire countries to succeed in the new economics of the twenty-first century? Rather than focusing on spending, Lester C. Thurow argues that we must emphasize investment in basic knowledge, education, and infrastructure. Only by committing ourselves to building communal wealth can we maximize opportunities for building personal wealth as well. Building Wealth is an indispensable guide to surviving -- and thriving -- in the economies of the twenty-first century.

France is a land absolutely steeped in history. It has always been a leading nation of Western Europe, and in many ways, one could say France is Western Europe.
One could confidently say such a thing because of the long history of French polities taking charge in world history. Before France proper even existed, the tribes there, such as the Franks, played a central role in regional affairs. For example, as the Roman Empire was falling apart, the Franks were increasingly relied upon for the security of the ailing Roman state.
And when Rome toppled, the Franks took it upon themselves to pick up the pieces. It was from their efforts that the so-called “Holy Roman Empire” was forged. This massive conglomerate once contained much of France and a large chunk of the rest of western and central Europe.
France then became a nation in its own right and would become one of the most powerful powers of Europe, with colonies all over the world. France would then undergo much internal upheaval and a revolution that would rock the whole world. It would take France generations to recover, but recover it did. Before arriving where it is today, the country would go through two world wars and a cold one.
In this audiobook, you will discover the following:France’s origins and its prehistoryFrance’s relations with the Roman EmpireHow the French survived the Middle AgesThe French Revolution and the impact it had on societyThe Napoleonic Wars and the changes Napoleon made in France and its coloniesFrench colonialism and a look at some of the major French coloniesFrance during the world warsPostwar and Cold War FranceModern France and what its future might holdAnd much more!

Are you frustrated, fed up and fatigued? Most doctors are.
Dr. Jeff Moody was. The demands of being a doctor combined with the pressure to perform regardless of any issues—or risk losing his medical license—left Dr. Moody feeling trapped, hopeless, and powerless. When he stopped to consider why he was feeling such despair, he realized the truth: he was suffering from burnout.
If you are tired, frustrated, resentful, or feel like you have no control over your workload—let alone your life—you might be suffering from burnout, too.
As burned out as you may be, it is not hopeless and you are not powerless. You have options, which Dr. Moody will show you.
In The Doctor Is Burned Out, Dr. Moody will help you recover from burnout by first identifying the factors that led to your burnout. From there, he offers mental exercises, paradigm shifts, and critical habit changes—including suggestions for diet, exercise, and sleep—that can help you create a “new you” while enjoying a more satisfying, joyful life
