Despite the howling protests from his peers, no one's ever been more willing to spill the beans on what it's really like inside the pro cycling peloton than the sarcastic scribe Phil Gaimon. Building on the outrageous success of his hilarious 2014 debut, Pro Cycling on $10 a Day: From Fat Kid to Euro Pro, Gaimon gathers the absolute gems from his monthly Q&A feature column in VeloNews magazine into his new book, Ask a Pro, adding a dose of fresh commentary and even more acerbic and sharp-eyed insights. With six years of material to work with-including his incredible rise into the pro ranks, the devastating loss of his contract for 2015, and his bold return to the Big League-Gaimon covers every possible topic, from the team dinner table to the toilet, with plenty of stops along the way.Gaimon wields his outsider's wit to cast a cock-eyed gaze at the peculiar manners, mores, and traditions that make the medieval sport of cycling so irresistible to watch. Ask a Pro includes new resources from Gaimon, too, including dubious advice on winning the race buffet, a cautionary guide for host housing, and Phil's pre-race warm-up routine.

This deeply personal and courageous memoir recounts my experiences with domestic violence, sharing painful and often traumatic details of abuse at the hands of my husband (now my ex). The abuse includes physical violence, sexual assault, infidelity, and emotional manipulation. However, this is not merely a story of suffering. It is a testament to resilience and hope. Despite the challenges I faced, I found the strength and determination to break free from my abuser and start a new life. This book serves as a powerful reminder that healing and hope are possible, even in the darkest of times. My hope is that it brings comfort and strength to those struggling with domestic violence while promoting greater understanding and awareness of this important issue. This is a must-read book.

Longfellow Stanshall is the brilliant, and yes, controversial, author of several internationally best-selling books. She is also a prolific playwright, screenwriter, theatrical producer, soldier for women’s rights, world traveler, and oh by the way, the second wife of the late Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band’s iconic, singer, composer, and frontman, Vivian Stanshall. In this one-of-a-kind audio encounter between Ms. Longfellow and actor, author, and music historian Geoffrey Giuliano, the listener is afforded the rare opportunity to go deep inside the head and the heart of one of the most important and forceful female voices of our time on the subjects of art, culture, her turbulent life and times, and oh by the way, her amazing, almost otherworldly relationship with the great poet laureate of the 1960s, '70s, '80s and beyond renaissance man, Vivian Stanshall. This is not to minimize the fact the obvious direction of this unexpected audio documentary is Ki’s decades long love affair with Vivian, rather, to truly enter into the deeper level of these remarkable conversations you must understand that Ki and Viv are both, in their own way, important and timely artists. Take heed, Ms. Longfellow is no airhead rock groupie, or pop band hanger-on, but rather an important voice in her own right. To experience this sometimes rough and ready interview is to come away knowing far more about Vivian Stanshall as a man, lover, father, and artist than any fan, follower, acolyte, or devotee might ever hope to expect. Two ex-Green Berets recount their missions after two decades in Special Forces, from running counter-terrorism training to rescuing kidnap victims & more. A lot of confusion, a lot of humor, a lot of broken dreams and broken promises, an occasional triumph . . . 1978—A chance meeting on a remote military airbase between two Green Berets involved in the same operation leads to a partnership that will last over forty years. Four years after that meeting, Nick Brokhausen and Jeff Miller leave the service within a few weeks of each other and begin an odyssey that takes them to dozens of countries on five continents. Along with a small coterie of fellow former Special Operations and intelligence community veterans like Penguini, Max, Reek, The Spider Woman, and a score of others—some heroes and some villains—they undertake a variety of missions for the government, other governments, large multinational corporations mostly in the aerospace or resource development industries, and occasionally just for suffering individuals who cannot find help anywhere else. In the process they lay the groundwork for an entire new industry of private military contractors. Two men sadly just a bit ahead of their time. Every episode in this book actually happened. Not always precisely as described herein, but close. Changes have been made sometimes to make the narrative flow more smoothly, some to obfuscate events that might be flirting with classification issues . . . Names have been changed, not always to protect the innocent. But the underlying story is, for the most part, the reality as they lived it.“A fascinating account of an extraordinary series of adventures.” —Journal of Counterterrorism & Homeland Security International

A USA TODAY and Wall Street Journal bestseller! Learn how to live a life of character and integrity—by following the simple advice of a third grade dropout. Be inspired by the book behind Dr. Rick Rigsby’s viral graduation speech.
After his wife died, Rick Rigsby was ready to give up. The bare minimum was good enough. Rigsby was content to go through the motions, living out his life as a shell of himself. But then he remembered the lessons his father taught him years before— incredibly simple, yet incredibly profound.
These lessons weren’t about advanced mathematics or the secrets of the stock market. They were quite straightforward, in fact, as Rigsby’s father never made it through third grade. But if this man’s instructions were powerful enough to inspire one of his children to earn a Ph.D. and another to become a judge—imagine what they can do for you.
While Rick Rigsby’s father was a third-grade dropout, he was a man who never hid behind any excuse. A man who never allowed his problems or lack of a formal education to determine his present or affect his future. A man who realized that destiny was a choice and not a chance.
In Lessons from a Third Grade Dropout, Rigsby shares the simple lessons from his father that will transform your mindset, including:Remain true to yourselfThink the best at all timesGive your best regardless of the circumstancesKeep standing no matter what
Join Rigsby as he dusts off time-tested beliefs and shares his father’s impactful, far-reaching story—of how a life can be enhanced, of how a corporate culture can be changed, of how a family can be united—by living the simple lessons of a third-grade dropout.
