  Phantasmagoria, Lewis Carroll's longest poem, was first published by Macmillan and Co., London, in 1869. Written in seven cantos, it tells the tale, in quintains, of a gentleman called Tibbets and his experience conversing with a phantom. This amusing "epic" takes us through their initial fear of each other, a fierce debate over the goings-on of the supernatural world, and finally, to a touching mutual admiration.

  Anacreon (582 BCE–485 BCE) was a Greek lyric poet born in Teos, an Ionian city on the coast of Asia Minor. He likely moved to Thrace in 545 BCE with others from his city when it was attacked by Persians. He then moved to Samos, to Athens, and possibly again to Thessaly, seeking a safe place to write his poems as his patrons (including Polycrates, tyrant of Samos, and Hipparchus, brother of Athenian tyrant Hippias) kept being murdered. It is unknown where Anacreon died, though he lived to the unusually advanced age of 85. 
  Few of Anacreon's works survive, but those that do focus on wine, love (homosexual and heterosexual), and the overall pleasures of the legendary Roman symposium. Anacreon used various techniques in his writings, including self-deprecation and irony. The collection of miscellaneous Greek poems from the Hellenistic Age and beyond known as the Anacreontea was "mistakenly labeled" with Anacreon's name. Despite later appreciation for Anacreon's true poems, his works were not appreciated during his lifetime.
  This work is a collection of the Odes of Anacreon, translated into English by Thomas Moore.

What matters is how we choose to walk through them when they come. Follow Annalise and Oliver through many Exits & Entrances.1982She was determined to drive west until she found at least a sliver of blue sky. The persistent rain had decaffeinated everything. From the sky itself, to her hazel eyes that held nothing but a hollow gaze, the energy had long since been drained from it all. She was aware of the gray blanket that was weighing everything down, and knew she needed to be intentional about finding the sun today. Long drives could be good for the soul, and today was the day she would indulge in one.2022A full head of curly gray, unruly hair, lay against his left elbow that had sunk onto the top of the grand piano hours ago. His long, knotted fingers stretched out over the ivory keys that awaited his masterful touch. He'd not been able to leave behind the keys and the bench, not even for a beckoning night of sleep. This was the place where he'd spent so many beautiful hours with the love of his life.

From these Isles their fame spread and whilst among their number many are now forgotten or neglected, their talents endure.  Among them is one of the first published female poets, Anne Bradstreet. Born in England, she moved to America in her early years, and from there her poetic legacy spread to other conrinents.

  we be theorizin: black poiēsis no. 1. vol. 44 is a collection of haikus, tankas, sonnets, free verse, and spoken word poems written in the Black Arts Movement tradition. Compiled of 44 poems and 149 end notes, we be theorizin reflects the protest of the Black Arts and Civil Rights Movements, while giving homage to the theoretical dexterity from which Black feminism and womanism were born. we be theorizin is organized into three parts: "thru morning pulses"; "we be theorizin"; and "Black life unexpected"—each of which includes a prose essay as introductory matter to the poems compiled in each section. From poems acknowledging the Black Lives Matter Movement to others recalling 20th century Black literature and critical race thoughts, we be theorizin loves on Black culture, while talkin b(l)ack to the empire. "Ey yo!" writes Kendra in her opening poem, "callin Òrìṣàs: . . . come out come out wherever you are."
