Summary

Crystal Jackson is surrounded by drama. Her parents are constantly arguing and fighting. To escape the drama at home, she befriends Tyreek "Ty" Davis, known on the streets as Doughboy. Crystal ignores her two BFFs (Dena and Sade) warning about Ty, and her crush leads her into a lot more than a full blown relationship. As Crystal spends more time with Ty, she unknowingly places her life in situations more dangerous than she has ever imagined. Crystal and Ty become like a new age Bonnie and Clyde as they go on one deadly adventure after another. Lives are lost and enemies crossed. Turning sixteen may be sweet, but it can also be deadly as Crystal quickly finds out in this edgy tale of drama, intrigue and teenage love.

But then Ms Sparks decides that this year's tournament will be a bit … er … different. That is, it won't be an Extraordinary Grand Tournament at all, but rather a very ordinary sports day with Spellshire Academy! Young Chuan lives with his father in the beautiful palace of a powerful Chinese warlord. As a reward for his cleverness in solving the warlords puzzle, Father is given the job of tallying the warlords treasure--brilliant jewels, rich brocades, and spices from a thousand lands. Life at the palace is luxurious but filled with so many interruptions Father often loses count! The varying totals lead the suspicious warlord to accuse him of stealing, and Father is about to lose hope. Just in time, Chuan discovers a special use for the warlords lovely jade beads--a use that will help Father keep an accurate tally, and cause the warlord to pronounce Chuan as clever as his Father. Often used by teachers of the primary grades to illustrate the powerful concept of "base ten," various types of counting frames appeared in China during the Middle Ages. The Warlords Beads is a valuable tool for introducing young readers to the wonder of numbers as well as the beauty and mystery of ancient China.

Nighttime is the best time for a boy and his best friend in this charming tale from the author of Circus in the Sky and Mermaids on Mars.  Jude’s Moon is a delightful story of a little boy who is fascinated by the moon. He believes he is the only one who can see it, so he is always so excited to point it out to his mom. “There’s the moon!” he shouts with glee every time he sees it. One day Jude is confused when the moon changes shape. He thinks someone has stolen his moon and replaced it with a croissant. When he learns it is a crescent moon, he is even more curious to learn how it changes shapes. This story is a fun and easy way to educate children on the phases of the moon.   “I recommend this book to kids that love science, teachers that want to teach their class about moon phases and parents that love to read with their kids.” —5 Girls Book Reviews   “In Jude’s Moon, Jude loves the moon so much that he believes he is the one who hung it in the sky. Throughout the story, Jude examines the phases of the moon, as well as fun facts about the sun.” —MySocialGoodNews.com
