A vivid and accessible new translation of essential selections from Boethius's Consolation of PhilosophyWhat do you do when your life has fallen apart? Fifteen hundred years ago, a Roman nobleman named Boethius asked this question as he was sitting in a prison cell waiting to die, accused—probably unjustly—of treason. Boethius had been a rich and powerful man with all a person could want in life, but now he had lost everything. Shaken, he wondered how such terrible misfortune could have happened to him and why life was so unfair. When Philosophy herself appears in his cell and confronts Boethius, the conversation that follows between the two on the nature of evil and why humans suffer is as powerful and inspiring today as it was to its first readers. In How to Cope, Philip Freeman presents a lively modern translation of essential selections from Boethius's classic. This translation vividly captures Boethius's journey from bitterness and anger to reconciliation and peace, showing how ancient philosophy, especially Stoicism, can help listeners deal with adversity in their own lives. The book reveals the qualities that have made The Consolation of Philosophy one of the most popular and influential works of classical and world literature, and an inspiration to countless writers, including Thomas Aquinas, Dante, and Chaucer.

Is your child a picky eater? Do they insist on having the same foods served over and over again? For many kids, picky eating is a sensory issue—whether it's the smell, taste, texture, or appearance of food. So, how can you help your child overcome these sensory sensitivities and ensure that they get the nourishment they need?

Written by a pediatric occupational therapist with a specialty certification in feeding, eating, and swallowing, Raising Adventurous Eaters offers eight evidence-based sensory strategies to help kids foster a healthy relationship with food. You'll learn all about how picky eating can be caused by sensory processing differences, and find step-by-step strategies for dealing with each sense. By learning to lean into their senses, children will better understand what's going on in their bodies. This fosters an intuitive eating approach, teaching kids to listen to their body's hunger and fullness cues and respect and respond to those cues appropriately.

Whether or not your child has a diagnosis of sensory processing disorder (SPD), or simply has sensory sensitivities when it comes to food, this book will help you set your child up for successful mealtimes, turning the most stressful time of the day into a time that your family can spend relaxing and bonding together around the table.

"Essential reading for lovers of the Great outdoors" —Roger Cox, Scotsman magazine

Longlisted for the 2022 Highland Book Prize

In 2019, Jenna Watt took part in the stalking of a hind on the vast Highland estate of Corrour: part of an immersive attempt to understand the ideas that lie behind 'rewilding', and what it means emotionally and physically to participate in Scotland's deer cull. Piece by piece and chapter by chapter she unravels the story of that one day spent hunting the hind, interlaced with her discovery that her ancestors were deer stalkers, game keepers, and ghillies on a Highland estate, who once took part in increasingly controversial land practices like muirburn and species persecution.

This exploration leads her into the complex and often conflict-ridden world of the rewilding movement.

In the process, Jenna comes to better understand the meaning of 'wildness', the shifting baselines of 'rewilding', and, in a world beset by climate change and species extinction, how to cope, both as an individual and as a society, with the concept of ecological grief.

The Easter Rising was an attempt at independence from the United Kingdom that lasted six days and occurred during WWI. The Irish rebels were thwarted on several fronts and failed to gain the freedom from British rule that they sought.
This audiobook offers a fair view of both sides, where neither was willing to concede. If you are interested in the history of Ireland and its fight for independence, this is a good place to start.

Theodore Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber, is a United States murderer, mathematician, and neo-Luddite social critic who carried out a campaign of mail bombings. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, where, as an intellectual child prodigy, he excelled academically from an early age.
A considerable amount of credible circumstantial evidence suggests that Kaczynski was the unwitting victim of top secret CIA-sponsored 'MK-ULTRA' mind-control experiments conducted at Harvard University from the fall of 1959 through the spring of 1962. Some experts suggest that these experiments may have been the cause of his emotional problems.
Kaczynski eventually received an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and earned a PhD in mathematics from the University of Michigan. He became an assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley at age 25 but resigned two years later.
In 1971, he moved to a remote cabin without electricity or running water, in Lincoln, Montana, where he began to learn survival skills in an attempt to become self-sufficient.
He decided to start his bombing campaign after watching the wilderness around his home get destroyed by development.
From 1978 to 1995, Kaczynski sent 16 bombs to targets including universities and airlines, killing three people and injuring 23. Kaczynski sent a letter to The New York Times on April 24, 1995 and promised "to desist from terrorism" if the Times or The Washington Post published his manifesto. In his Industrial Society and Its Future (also called the "Unabomber Manifesto"), he argued that his bombings were extreme but necessary to attract attention to the erosion of human freedom necessitated by modern technologies requiring large-scale organization.
    included in this volume:
    -Unnamed Essay
    -When Non-Violence is Suicide
    -Hit Where It Hurts
-Industrial Society and Its Future (aka The Unabomber Manifesto)
