Sinopsis

Specimens of Greek Tragedy Aeschylus and Sophocles - Aeschylus, Sophocles - "Greek Tragedy" is meticulously edited collection of the most famous plays written by Aeschylus and Sophocles. Aeschylus (525/524 c. 456/455 BC) was an ancient Greek tragedian. He is often described as the father of tragedy. According to Aristotle, he expanded the number of characters in theater allowing conflict among them; characters previously had interacted only with the chorus. Sophocles (c. 497/6 406/5 BC) is one of three ancient Greek tragedians whose plays have survived. His first plays were written later than those of Aeschylus, and earlier than or contemporary with those of Euripides. Sophocles wrote over 120 plays. For almost 50 years, Sophocles was the most celebrated playwright in the dramatic competitions of the city-state of Athens. Pandemics, massive earthquakes, war, and other catastrophes inspire immediate action because their casualties and destruction are immediately visible. Climate change is an unyielding problem because its long-range dangers are hidden, and thus it is a global risk unlike anything in human experience

The federal government recently announced aggressive climate targets for Canada. We have committed to producing net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, which will require major changes for our economy and way of life. Canadian citizens need to understand why our most distinguished climate scientists and our senior political leaders think that we must meet this target. Canada and Climate Change explains the importance of policies that will ensure we meet the net-zero emissions target. William Leiss provides a firm grasp on what climate change is and how scientists have described shifts in the earth’s climate as they have occurred over hundreds of millions of years and as they are likely to occur in the near future, especially by the end of this century.

Leiss argues that citizens have a right to place their trust in what climate scientists tell us. Canada and Climate Change is an essential primer on where we stand on the issue of climate change in Canada and what will unfold in the years ahead.

A valuable discovery under the world's second-largest temperate wetland and in the traditional lands of the Cree and Ojibway casts light on the growing conflict among resource development, environmental stewardship, and Indigenous rights

When prospectors discovered a gigantic crescent of metal deposits under the James Bay Lowlands of northern Canada in 2007, the find touched off a mining rush, lured a major American company to spend fortunes in the remote swamp, and forced politicians to confront their legal duty to consult Indigenous Peoples about development on their traditional territories. But the multibillion-dollar Ring of Fire was all but abandoned when stakeholders failed to reach a consensus on how to develop the cache despite years of negotiations and hundreds of millions of dollars in spending. Now plans for an all-weather road to connect the region to the highway network are reigniting the fireworks.

In this colorful tale, Virginia Heffernan draws on her bush and newsroom experiences to illustrate the complexities of resource development at a time when Indigenous rights are becoming enshrined globally. The Ring of Fire presents an opportunity for Canada to leave behind centuries of plunder and set the global standard for responsible development of minerals critical to the green energy revolution.

    Face size matters!
90% of the population reaches adulthood with underdeveloped midfaces and lower jaws. This causes lots of crowding—the teeth, tongue, tonsils, and adenoids are crowded. The nasal septum deviates to one side or the other, ears get congested. The airway is restricted, and the body responds by shifting into the Sympathetic Nervous System. Living in low-level sympathetic mode erodes health. This can contribute to anxiety, headaches, low thyroid, ADHD/ADD symptoms, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and many other common mental or physical health conditions.
Dr. Pomerance was part of that 90%. In About Face, she shares her Airway Dentistry expertise regarding face size and health outcomes stemming from years of continuing education, her personal health struggles, and decades of clinical experience, explaining:How facial underdevelopment happensWhat to do to avoid itHow to identify itHow to resolve the underdevelopment to restore health and wellbeing
Whether you're a dental professional or simply want to learn more about the subject to improve your quality of life, About Face provides a wealth of information and resources in an accessible, comprehensive format.
