In over 1,000 published reports, it has shown various methods of meditation have been linked to positive changes in metabolism, blood pressure, functionality of the brain and other bodily processes.
A report commissioned in the late 90's by the National Institute of Health on alternative medicine concluded: 'More than 30 years of research as well as the experience of a large number of individuals and health care providers shows meditation and similar forms of relaxation can lead to better health and lifestyle.'

As you can see, research has been conducted for many years and the number of medical practitioners and counselors suggesting meditation today is growing as an alternative to engaging prescription drugs for common stress related symptoms.
