Summary

WHY WE LOVE IT: We love that luminary writer Paul Jenkins (Wolverine: Origin) and world-renowned artist Humberto Ramos (The Amazing Spider-Man) teamed up to unfold a sophisticated story of religion, murder, and mystery. It kept us guessing until the end!WHY YOU WILL LOVE IT: No superheroes, no outlandish fight scenes. Just the beautiful artistry of Humberto Ramos as it shines in this tale devoid of any superheroes but full of the supernatural , as told by Paul Jenkins. Fans of Constantine and the BBC’s Sherlock will not want to miss this tale of corruption through the eyes of an outsider.WHAT IT’S ABOUT: London detective Charlie Northern is a devout atheist, but when the pope’s successor dies suddenly and mysteriously, he has no choice but to step foot back in church. Sidestepping nefarious local politics and a crooked police force, Northern comes face to face with hundreds of years of conspiracy and corruption in the seat of the world’s wealthiest religion. Some signs point to the supernatural, but a good detective knows the sins of man when he sees them. Collects the complete miniseries (issues #1-6).

America’s favorite comic strip heroine navigates the perils of being a modern woman in this hilarious collection.

By now, we’re all familiar with Cathy’s battles among the four basic guilt groups: food, Mom, love, and career. Women can identify with Cathy Guisewite’s hilarious portrayal of the universal struggles of modern femininity. A confirmed chocoholic, Cathy often consoles herself with one more trip to the fridge, then pays for it with frightening excursions in department store dressing rooms. Mom pushes Cathy to find the man who will give her grandchildren. As for her career, Cathy struggles to be a superstar, even though her desk looks like a disaster area.

In fact, Cathy’s all-too-recognizable life is what endears her to devoted readers. Her countless fans look on their cartoon heroine as a best friend, someone who really knows the trials and tribulations of the working single woman. From Internet dating to Christmas catalog fiascoes, from winter-flu one-upmanship at the office to kitchen technique discussions with Mom, Cathy puts her finger on the kinds of situations that women face in their real lives on a daily basis. In this Cathy collection, I’d Scream Except I Look So Fabulous, our favorite cartoon character once again shows why her popularity soars. Who can’t relate to the discomfort fashion sometimes dictates in order to be trendy.

My story is about a man in his seventies, a pseudo scientist who has his brain removed from his skull and placed inside a lab aquarium - the 'Manaquarium' so that they can study his consciousness. (FYI - They removed Einstein's brain but only checked out his basic anatomy and found that he had way more glial cells than the rest of us - what a waste.)  In this case, they get a bit further down the road. Our hero, Henry has made it his life's goal to learn more about the connections of the human soul to the rest of the vastness of space/time. Freed from the constraints of all of his biological functions, his mind is able to go where no man has gone before.
So - in the Think Tank and connected to the Super Lepton Collider, the upgraded Webb and Hubble Telescopes and the Very Large Array, Hank is able to discern something that appears to be the 2nd Big Bang! If you thought the first Big Bang was all there is, you have a huge shock in store for yourself. As it turns out, they're going on all over the place and sometimes, they even collide into one another and cause havoc over large sections of the universe.
This is also a love story that connects the reader to the meaning and purpose of Cosmic Consciousness but in a completely new way - it's Science.
All of this plays out against the background of our planet on fire and all life on Earth on the verge of extinction - even the oceans catch fire - (taken from actual recent headlines.) But cruising closer to the 2nd Big Bang with the aid of Jeff Bezos and his new Space company - everything works out in the end and all of human life becomes justified at last - but in a slightly different and higher context than the way we justify ourselves at the present..
I don't want to give away the ending. I'm hopeful that I've done Arthur C. Clarke and Kurt Vonnegut proud.
