'A delightful collection of Austen-inspired dishes' – Bee Wilson, Stella Magazine
'It's a great idea - a book that you can read as well as cook from, and one that, uniquely, sends you straight back to the novels themselves' – Telegraph Online
'In this charming bit of historical reconstruction, Pen Vogler takes authentic recipes from Austen's time and updates them for today. You'll find everything you need to recreate Netherfield Ball in your front room.' – Kathryn Hughes, The best books on food, The Guardian
Enter Jane Austen's world through the kitchens and dining rooms of her characters, and her own family.
Food is an important theme in Jane Austen's novels - it is used as a commodity for showing off, as a way of showing kindliness among neighbours, as part of the dynamics of family life, and - of course - for comic effect. Dinner with Mr Darcy takes authentic recipes from the period, inspired by the food that features in Austen's novels and letters, and adapts them for contemporary cooks. The text is interwoven throughout with quotes from the novels, and feature spreads cover some of the key themes of food and eating in Austen's time, including table arrangements, kitchens and gardens, changing mealtimes, and servants and service. Whether you are hoping to beguile a single gentleman in possession of a substantial fortune, or you just want to have your own version of the picnic on Box Hill in Emma, you will find fully updated recipes using easily available ingredients to help you recreate the dishes and dining experiences of Jane Austen's characters and their contemporaries.

From the host of HGTV’s Dig In: “If you live in limited quarters, are just starting out, and want to grow most-likely-to-succeed plants, have a read.” —The Philadelphia Inquirer

Edibles continue to be popular choices for gardeners, and beginning gardeners are no exception. Author William Moss takes a beginning gardener through all the steps needed to grow vegetables and fruits in any setting, regardless of the available (or desired) size. This book covers container gardening, vertical gardening, raised-bed gardening, and traditional methods to help gardeners everywhere bring a taste of homegrown freshness to their gardening experience.

“Moss offers ideas for finding space to garden, techniques for creating and maintaining gardens and basic growing information. The bulk of the book, however, is dedicated to details about plants that grow well in compact spaces, with an entire chapter devoted to that all-time favorite, the tomato.” —Akron Beacon Journal

“Besides the usual how-to information, Moss offers a chapter that focuses on different types of small gardens, ranging from a container or trellis on a balcony to a small backyard or plot in a community garden.” —Country Gardens Magazine

His road to the top is full of dangerous twists and hilarious turns, with a few precipitous cliffs in between, including getting shot defending his beloved 1965 Mustang fastback from carjackers, blowing out of town Fear-and-Loathing style, and picking up chicks and vagrants along the way.
Rawlings then takes readers behind the scenes of Fast N’ Loud, the series, sharing details on everything from the toughest car to restore to the easiest, his favorite restorations, travel and war anecdotes, and the best and worst cars to make it to the small screen. He finishes with a handy guide for classic and antique car enthusiasts that includes insider tricks of the trade. Want to know how to find a Model-T in mint condition? Need a carburetor for your ’73 Ford Mustang? Want to meet other ’60s Porsche owners? The answers are all here.
