The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, commonly known as "Prufrock", is the first professionally published poem by American-born, British poet T. S. Eliot (1888–1965). Eliot began writing "Prufrock" in February 1910, and it was first published in the June 1915 issue of Poetry: A Magazine of Verse at the instigation of Ezra Pound (1885–1972). It was later printed as part of a twelve-poem pamphlet (or chapbook) titled Prufrock and Other Observations in 1917. At the time of its publication, Prufrock was considered outlandish,[3] but is now seen as heralding a paradigmatic cultural shift from late 19th-century Romantic verse and Georgian lyrics to Modernism.

“Lara Williams makes a bold debut with this razor-sharp, magnificently humane story collection.” —Entertainment Weekly
She finds herself single, twenty-nine, partially-employed, and about a half a stone overweight. Roller dexter of eligible friends rattling thin. Thirties breathing down her neck like an inappropriate uncle. She jogs. Looks good in turquoise. Finds herself punctuating gas "better out than in!" patting her stomach like a department store Santa. This is who I am, she thinks.
The women in Lara Williams' debut story collection, A Selfie as Big as the Ritz, navigate the tumultuous interval between early twenties and middle age. In the title story, a relationship implodes against the romantic backdrop of Paris. In "One of Those Life Things," a young woman struggles to say the right thing at her best friend's abortion. In "Penguins," a girlfriend tries to accept her boyfriend's bizarre sexual fantasy. In "Treats," a single woman comes to terms with her loneliness. As Williams' characters attempt to lean in, fall in love, hold together a family, fend off loneliness, and build a meaningful life, we see them alternating between expectation and resignation, giddiness and melancholy, the rollercoaster we all find ourselves on.

"The Book" is a story of a guy, who found a worm-riddled book on the coast of the oily black river. There was a list of things to say and do, which the narrator describes as bad and forbidden. It was like an instruction to some gateways of which mystics have always dreamed about. The guy took the book away and it seemed to him, he was followed by someone along the road. His life changed significantly since then, he couldn’t understand anymore what year it was or who was in his house. Dogs started to avoid him as he always was followed by some shadows. He crossed plenty of gateways and traveled other worlds a lot. What adventures did he have? You are going to recognize soon. Read this doom gloomy tale if you are a fan of horror fiction and fantasy genres.A SmartTouch Media production.
