Summary

Krista Lindell stops to unwind after a difficult work meeting. She's never been to the seedy place before, but all the motorcycles in the parking lot tell her it's the kind of place she can go to be someone else for a while.

Nick Avery's one way to escape the pressures of his job on Capital Hill is spending Saturday nights at Diesel. The biker bar is full of men who drive Harleys with gray beards and leather vests. Nick doesn't really fit in, but it still works for him.

When Nick sees Krista at the bar in Diesel, he ditches his biker friends without a second thought. The unexpected attraction is more than either of them expected. Neither really wants more than a quickie - until the quickie turns into much more. When Nick finds out the secret Krista has held close, he's angry. Their budding romance is ruined. Over. Completely done.

Or is it? Will Nick's own logic talk some sense into him before it's too late?

Paulie’s life changed for the better when he was saved from a fate worse than death one night just before Christmas. His saviors, Wes a wolf shifter and Cass who was a demon, would only tell him that his innocence had been noted by others and they’d been sent to save him. Handing Paulie a briefcase that contained all he needed for a fresh start, Wes and Cass put him on a bus that would take him to his new life, and that was that.
But despite everything he’d been given, and his strong desire to make things work, Paulie struggled to fit into normal life. For one thing, tiger shifters were solitary animals, and Paulie found it difficult to make friends. Having been homeless for twelve years didn’t help either, as Paulie felt he had nothing in common with the people around him. When another attack resulted in Wes and Cass intervening for him a second time, all three realized that Paulie needed more than the contents of a briefcase – he needed the security that only a Fated Mate could bring him.
Ancient Greek God Zeus realized who Paulie was to him the first time he’d spied Paulie being followed into a dark alley by a group of thugs up to no good. Sending Wes and Cass to intervene was Zeus’s form of a compromise. He knew he could never claim Paulie as his mate, but he could see to it the young tiger shifter was safe and had the tools to forge a decent life for himself. As he always got his own way, as far as Zeus was concerned, that was that. Until it wasn’t.
Pushy demons, interfering gods and even the Fates all seemed to have an opinion on what was best for Paulie. But when Zeus thinks Paulie has gone missing, he’s prepared to start another great war just to get him back. Which must mean Zeus does want Paulie – right? Maybe a summoning will help.

Myra, naive and curious, is on a family vacation to the southernmost tip of Florida – a mangy Key West full of Spring Breakers. Here, suffering through the embarrassments of a family on the verge of splitting up, she meets Elijah, a charismatic Tanzanian musician who seduces her at the edge of the tourist zone. Myra longs to lose her virginity to Elijah, and is shocked to learn he lives with Gayl, a secretive and violent woman with a strange power over him. Myra and her family return to an unnamed, middle-class, grey Canadian city and she falls in with a pot-smoking, intellectual anarchist crowd. When Gayl and Elijah travel north and infiltrate Myra’s life, she walks willingly into their world: Myra continues to experiment sexually with Elijah, while Gayl plays an integral part in the increasingly abject games. Maidenhead traverses the desperate, wild spaces of a teenage girl’s self-consciousness. How does a girl feel scared? What is she scared of? And how does telling yourself not to be scared really work? As Myra enters worlds unfamiliar of sex, porn, race and class, she explores territories unknown in herself.
