Summary

We have all been there: turning to the refrigerator if feeling lonely or bored or indulging in seconds or thirds if strained. But if you suffer from bulimia, the from time to time urge to overeat is more like an obsession. And rather than eating sensibly to make up for it, you penalize yourself by purging, fasting, or exercising to do away with the calories. You might have found how easily you are able to get rid of the food ingested during a 'binge' by vomiting or taking diet pills or laxatives. The utilization of these purging techniques may become more frequent as bulimia and addiction to dieting supplements and laxatives take over.

The Unbreakable Boy is a raucously tender story of a teenage boy who joyfully embraces life's tragedies and triumphs--and an inspiring story of how his father was transformed through their journey together.
Like any other teenage boy, Austin loves pizza, movies, dancing, and girls. But unlike most other eighteen-year-olds, he has a rare brittle bone disease, was locked in a mental ward as a child, and is autistic. Yet Austin doesn't let any of that stop him from embracing life. His is a world where suffering a broken back is a minor inconvenience and the quest for the ultimate strawberry shake just might be the best day of his life.
Austin's journey dares us to believe thatmiracles are possible;hope does spring eternal; andwe can find joyous moments to celebrate every day.
Written with remarkable candor by Austin's father, Scott, and New York Times bestselling author Susy Flory, The Unbreakable Boy weaves the beautiful and often humorous tale of how Austin teaches his father--and everyone else he encounters--to have faith in God and trust that one day life's messes will all make sense.

How do you define the good life? For many, success is measured not by health and happiness but by financial wealth. But such a worldview overlooks the important things in life: personal contentment, family time, spirituality, and the health of the planet and those living on it. A preoccupation with money and possessions is not only unhealthy, it can also drain the true joy from life. In recent years, millions have watched their American Dreams go up in smoke. The international financial collapse, inflation, massive layoffs, and burgeoning consumer debt have left people in dire financial straits-including John Robbins, a crusader for planet-friendly food and lifestyle choices, who lost his entire savings in an investment scam. But Robbins soon realized that there was an upside to our collective financial downturn: Curtailed consumerism could lead us to reassess our lives and values. The New Good Life provides a philosophical and prescriptive path from conspicuous consumption to conscious consumption. Where the old view of success was measured by cash, stocks, and various luxuries, the new view will be guided by financial restraint and a new awareness of what truly matters. Parenting transracially doesn’t come naturally, nor does it just happen with time. Love is essential—yet by itself, love isn’t enough. Cross-cultural parenting also takes intentionality, listening, learning, growing, repenting, changing . . . then starting all over and doing it again. It’s hard work! And yet, when an adoptive family honors the ethnic heritages of their children, the whole family—as well as the watching world—gets to see the beauty of a gloriously creative God.In It Takes More Than Love, Brittany Salmon shares her own family’s story of transracial adoption and offers a biblically-based guide for others following the same path. Brittany recognizes that we live in divided times and there are extra challenges whenever race is part of the conversation. But with wise insight and hard-won experience, she provides guidance about topics such as:Maintaining a Gospel perspective throughout the journeyCelebrating your child’s history and heritageConfronting racismResponding to comments about your familyAvoiding pitfalls in adoptionHelping your kids feel represented in your home and community
No one is promising transracial adoption will be easy—least of all Brittany! Yet the extra effort is balanced by a beauty that images our eternal destiny.
