Summary

This is the outline I wish I had when I started my criminal law class as a 1L.

It is a concise, actionable outline filled with what you need for law school success.

***

In my book, 1L Success Guide, I argue that one of the best ways to succeed in law school is to have skeleton outlines prepared in advance of class so you already have the basic information organized before you attend lecture.

That way, you can pay more attention to the lecture and learn the law more quickly, giving you an advantage over your classmates come exam time.

This outline is designed to give you the foundational information you need to understand the framework for criminal law taught in law schools in the United States.

Use it for preparation prior to class, for review after class, and in advance of your final exam.

This is a concise, actionable outline.

What springs to your mind when you hear the word intelligence? An image of someone brilliant? Individuals who excel in fields, such as science, physics, mathematics, robotics, and other complicated subjects that require a high level of intelligence?
Well, perhaps the last thing that you associate the word intelligence with (if you do at all) is emotional intelligence.
According to Daniel Goleman, a renowned psychologist and expert on the subject, emotional intelligence is one form of intelligence that is often overlooked. What we don’t realize is that our emotions can represent a different way of thinking, and they can be valuable tools, which help guide us in the choices and decisions that we make.
Emotions can be very powerful. If unmanaged, they can overwhelm you and have a large impact on your life. An example of what unchecked and uncontrolled emotions look like would be those that you see suffering from conditions like anxiety and depression. These conditions stem from the inability to manage those emotions, and in the end, they overwhelm you and end up controlling you instead. They make everything seem impossible – which is why you find yourself feeling stuck, miserable, and often like your situation is hopeless.
Being aware of your emotions, and more importantly, what those emotions mean to you, is what emotional intelligence essentially encompasses. This book will explore what it means to possess this kind of intelligence and why it matters more than IQ does in the general success of life. You will learn the core principles of what forms emotional intelligence, as described by Goleman, as well as how learning to master these principles will forever transform your life.

The name 'Thoughtings' was inspired by a 5-year old who, when asked to explain what thinking is without using the word 'think' said 'It's when you're thoughting'. Children love pondering big philosophical questions like 'Does the universe end?', 'Where is my mind?' and 'Can something be true and false at the same time?'. These verses capture that impulse in the growing mind and feed it further. These are not poems or, at least, not in the traditional sense of the word... They are a kind of poem specifically designed around a particular puzzle or problem that might be thought more philosophy than poetry. Here's to the joy of puzzlement!

From the world's leading experts on geopolitical risk, a guide to the major global issues and policies sure to dominate headlines in the next few years.
In the last four years, the world has suffered a financial market meltdown and subsequent global recession. The eurozone crisis looms, the Middle East is in turmoil, and a shifting power balance between emerging markets and developed economies is reordering the global economy as a whole. Political and economic challenges intertwine now more than ever before, as the demands of local politics and global business grow increasingly complex and begin to conflict in new ways. Facing these new challenges, what will the future hold?
Ian Bremmer and Douglas Rediker, together with experts, analysts, and many of their colleagues from the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Geopolitical Risk, analyze these global issues and provide a template to understand how they will change our world in the next few years. Focusing on the most volatile, powerful, or misunderstood developments, the authors examine, among other topics:The risks to the International Monetary FundRussia's futureThe roles of emerging marketsThe political roots of the eurozone crisisImportant trends and tensions in Asia-PacificThe rise of regionalism in the wake of fracturing international governance
Most importantly, the contributors provide guidance on how to understand some of the key dynamics in the rapidly evolving global game.

A major emergency affecting a large number of people may occur anytime and anywhere. It may be a peacetime disaster such as a flood, tornado, fire, hurricane, blizzard or earthquake. It could be an enemy nuclear attack on the United States. In any type of general disaster, lives can be saved if people are prepared for the emergency, and know what actions to take when it occurs.

This handbook, "In Time of Emergency" (1968), contains basic general information on both nuclear attack and major natural disasters. This general guidance supplements the specific instructions issued by local governments. Since special conditions may exist in some communities, the local instructions may be slightly different from this general guidance. In those cases, the local instructions should be followed. “Expert Aaron Blight explores the daily realities of caregiving and offers candid, practical advice to help family caregivers cope with their many challenges. . . . This outstanding guide will be a lifesaver for anyone saddled with these immense responsibilities and seeking peace of mind.”—BookLife Reviews (Editor’s Pick)
"Candid, compassionate, and comforting caregiving advice."—Kirkus Reviews
Caring for a parent, spouse, or relative who cannot care for themselves due to age, infirmity, or illness is one of the noblest human activities. It’s also one of the most stressful, posing challenges that can be painful, confusing, frustrating, and deeply rewarding—sometimes all at once. When Caregiving Calls is an invitation to a deep conversation about caregiving and its meaning for you.
Aaron Blight has lived the caregiving experience many ways—as a family caregiver for his mother-in-law, as a professional who owned a large home care company and served as a national health care policy leader, and as a scholar studying caregiving as a phenomenon of social science.
Now he shares his insights in eighteen brief, thoughtful chapters that examine the many facets of caregiving. He explores how caregiving reshapes family relationships, challenges comfortable assumptions, and stresses your ability to manage your time, energy, and emotions. He shows how the changing mental and physical state of a loved one can lead to growing vulnerability, need, and loneliness on the part of care receiver and caregiver alike. He shares stories—poignant, funny, and often inspiring—that vividly capture the unique daily realities of the caregiving life. And he offers candid, practical advice that can help family caregivers do a better job of coping with the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual challenges they face.
