Raising a Mindful Eater in a Mindless Eating World

The Practice of Traditional Western Herbalism places the function of western herbs in their true historical context, apart from homeopathy, traditional Chinese medicine, and Ayurveda. Recently there has been a revival of interest in western herbalism, but practitioners haven't been able to explore its benefits due to a void of information on the topic—the system of medicine the herbs fit into had all but disappeared. To remedy the situation, herbalist Matthew Wood has researched the old-time practices and reconstructed them for modern use. In resuscitating western herbal medicine and bringing it up to date, he gives his listeners a powerful tool for holistic theory and treatment. Wood makes the point that plant medicines, because they are made from a broad range of chemical components, are naturally suited for the treatment of general patterns in the body. He argues against the biomedical model of standardization, in which herbs are refined and advertised as if they were drugs suited to an exact disease or condition.

We live in a very chaotic world. We also live in a very polluted world. You probably don't need me to remind you of this fact. There are all sorts of pollution available and, thankfully, the United States is one of the world's leaders in cutting down on physical pollution.
I am, of course, talking about pollutants that make their way into our air, water, and food. The Environmental Protection Agency, despite whatever issues it have, has done a generally good job of protecting citizens from physical and chemical pollutants.
The same can be said of the US Food and Drug Administration. Thanks to their vigilance, they have done an outstanding job making sure that most of the food items that make their way to our table are generally safe. Of course, there are certain issues that we can nitpick over like GMO and certain types of chemical residues. Still, it can’t be denied that, by and large, the US and other developed countries are fairly well protected against standard the sources of pollution.
If you don't believe me, just hop on a plane and go to Beijing, China. The difference in air quality, water quality, and food safety is like day and night. This is not a slam on China because they are making great progress in tightening regulations but it has to be said that when it comes to protecting its citizens, the developed world has done a fairly good job.

The key to all Wiccan practice is ultimately solitary because developing real growth and awareness begins inside each individual. The Solitary Wiccan's Bible is for any reader wanting to go deeper into his or her understanding and experience of Wicca--alone. There are many reasons people seek a solitary path: fear of charlatans, concern about co-workers finding out or being misunderstood by others, or lack of family or social support for Wiccan practice. The Solitary Wiccan's Bible uses the metaphor of a solitary pilgrim walking a path and discovering natural and spiritual truths along the way. This pilgrimage is based on the ancient symbology of the Pentagram enclosed in the triple circle. The Solitary Wiccan's Bible leads the pilgrim to cross the circles, moving from the Wilderness through the Home and Astral realms, to achieve the central Spiritual realm. Always down-to-earth and easy to understand, The Solitary Wiccan's Bible clearly lays out the Wiccan paths so any reader can follow.Chapters include:* The Pilgrimage of Wicca* The Pilgrim Enters New Realms* The Pilgrimage of the Pentagram* The Pilgrim's Wiccan Magical Path* The Practical Pilgrim's Spellwork* The Pilgrim's TalismansThe Solitary Wiccan's Bible provides background and practice in clear, accessible, and often humorous prose, making the book immediately useful to first-time seekers and long-time practitioners alike.
