Summary
'Jeppe on the Hill' is a comedic play by Ludvig Holberg that presents a humorous but faithful picture of peasant life in medieval Scandinavia. The play follows the story of Jeppe, a poor, oppressed peasant who is mistreated by his wife and superiors. When he is taken to a castle, dressed in the baron's clothes, and put in the baron's bed, Jeppe awakes to find himself in paradise, assuming the role of the baron and tyrannizing over the servants.
