Summary

It's hard growing up in a long line of Evil Queens and Wicked Stepmothers in the Palace of Saints, the royal family of the Commonwealth of the Pink Sky. "Sweet" Blossom is a princess in waiting with big ideas on how to change the world, but she must contend with her scheming family, not to mention a sexual, cultural and social revolution happening all over Cadabra. A woman destined to inherit power has many friends, suitors and enemies hiding behind smiling faces. She must choose her friends carefully. Prince Aaron is a nice guy and an old fashioned idealist who struggles with the new wave of feminism. Tom Callin is a foul-mouthed, two-faced opportunist who hides behind fake mouse ears and corporate promises. And then there is the Big Bad Wolf, a master of disguise and an actor with an incredible range of false emotion. Blossom can only choose one path on the road to Sainthood. Will she follow her morals, her ambitions, or her aching heart? This is Part 2 of The End of the Magical Kingdom.

Rome was once the seat of a vast and powerful empire known for its conquering armies, grand architecture, ahead of its time engineering, and lavish lifestyles of the ruling elite. Today’s modern Rome has all of the elegant, ancient history of its past life mixed with the modern feel of a city at the epicenter of all things Italian. Where else but the “Eternal City” can you grab a slice of authentic Roman style pizza while heading for St. Peter’s Square to see the Pope’s weekly address, or indulge in homemade gelato while checking out the inspiring awe of the ancient Colosseum?

There’s no question that Rome is full of historic splendor and beauty. Not only is it the largest city in all of Italy, but it has stood the test of time, being built on seven hills along the banks of the Tiber river. As the central part of one of the most powerful empires the world has ever seen, Rome was a city known for its religious, artistic, architectural, and aristocratic significances. From priceless works of art to delicious, authentic cuisine, Rome has plenty to offer the eager traveler looking to seek out historic adventures as well as modern fun.

Through New Mexico’s Official Scenic Historic Markers we learn about the people, the geological features, and the historical events that have made the Land of Enchantment a place unlike any other. An index to our history, these markers tell an incredible story about our cultures and origins. This revised and expanded edition of Roadside New Mexico provides additional information about these sites and includes approximately one hundred new markers, sixty-five of which document the contribution of women to the history of New Mexico.
Now structured alphabetically for easier identification, each essay also offers suggestions of similar Historic Markers to help readers explore each topic further. In addition, Pike includes entries on “Ghost Markers”—those sites missing from the road that still impart significant historical lessons. Roadside New Mexico delivers a useful companion for travelers who want to understand more about the landscapes and inhabitants of the state.
