Sinossi

Prequel to The Magician

Garrett Pell, Second Sorcerer of the Middle Lands, is just trying to build a school. Unfortunately, he's also got missing mage-students, disobedient goats, and a Grand Sorcerer who likes to disappear. Not to mention the distracting presence of the attractive local prince, who keeps mysteriously turning up right when Garrett could use a hand.

Prince Alexandre de Berri knows perfectly well that he's the youngest and least talented of his brothers. But his father, the king, wants to be on good terms with the magicians, and Alex is good at making friends -- so he's been ordered to do exactly that. But what began as a royal command turns into very real feelings, and all Alex wants is to solve Garrett's problems.

Alex's father isn't happy. Garrett's school still needs help. And Alex and Garrett will need to make a choice. But, together, they just might be magic.

‘In death obsessed scientist Jess, Effie Black has created one of the freshest, most engaging characters I’ve encountered in years. In Defence of the Act is a whip-smart exploration of what it means to truly live.Fresh, thought-provoking and, at times, surprisingly funny.’

It's the hottest city in the U.S., and it's not just the weather that's heating up.

Kim Gatlin, ambitious archaeologist and college professor, is taking the spring semester off to do a survey of a remarkable rock art site in Yuma, Arizona. The wild remote desert also holds gun-toting locals and desperate refugees, but the biggest hazard proves to be Bureau of Land Management geologist Claudine "Randi" Randall. Their mutual appreciation of the petroglyphs ought to bring them together, but Kim's academic goals and Randi's sense of ownership have them clashing from the word go.

Randi, a tough girl whose fears about her past haunt her every move, is reluctant to acknowledge the other type of sparks that fly whenever she and Kim are forced into each other's company. Professional resentment seems only to fan the heat threatens to burn them both.

The beauty and mystery of the Sonoran Desert provide the vibrant backdrop for Robbi McCoy's passionate story of two women forced to question everything they thought they knew about themselves before they can risk their fiery hearts on the biggest gamble of all.

Pretending to be in love never felt so real.
Henry Lu hates being a superstar. Action movies have left a sour taste in his mouth and filming a queer period drama on the Yorkshire coast sounds like the perfect antidote. Meeting grumpy coffee shop owner, Alex, is the cherry on top.
Alex isn't impressed with the appearance of Hollywood royalty in his life, especially because Henry refuses to accept that Alex doesn't like him. But when rumours about the production draw the attention of stuffy streaming service bigwigs and the ire of Henry’s superhero franchise, Henry and Alex must put on a show and fake a relationship to smooth things over.
Alex doesn’t want a relationship, and Henry isn’t good at them, but their arrangement is only supposed to be for a few months, then they'll both be free to go back to their lives. The only problem is that pretending to be in love never felt so real.
Like I Pretended is a slow burn contemporary MM romance featuring a sunshine Hollywood superstar whose never been told no, a grumpy coffee shop owner who wants to be left alone, bad attempts at flirting, terrible catering, and finding home.
It is book four in the Heather Bay series and while it can be listened to as a standalone, it’s best enjoyed as part of the series.
