Summary

When her husband's death leaves Trish Grayson Taylor and her three young daughters penniless, she must humble herself and return home. Forced into the role of a servant, Trish bites her tongue in order to provide for her girls. Bart Ryan knows the Graysons are an ill-tempered bunch - and is shocked to find that Trish is one of them. After overhearing a panicked prayer Trish utters, he pledges his friendship and support. Trish knows Bart could lose his lucrative Grayson Industries landscaping contract if her parents discover their friendship. But he's determined the Lord has brought them together. Can Trish allow their love to bloom, or will she convince herself she's no better than a lowly dandelion?

This is unlike any other book on numerology, because it reveals the science behind this ancient mystical art and explains why it works. It is also the first book to present a thorough explanation of the numbers and letters, starting with their origins--the how and why of their design--and exploring their nature in names and language. In addition, it introduces the Inner Guidance Number, a powerful tool for accessing our inner knowing.Note: This is a repackaging of The Secret Science of Numerology: The Hidden Meaning of Numbers and Letters by Shirley Lawrence (New Page, 2001; ISBN: 9781564145291), which has until recently only been available via Lightning Source.

Italian Folk Magic is a fascinating journey through the magical, folkloric, and healing traditions of Italy with an emphasis on the practical. The reader learns uniquely Italian methods of magical protection and divination and spells for love, sex, control, and revenge. The book contains magical and religious rituals and prayers and explores divination techniques, crafting, blessing rituals, witchcraft, and, of course, the evil eye, known as malocchio in Italian—the author explains what it is, where it comes from, and, crucially, how to get rid of it.This book can help Italians regain their magical heritage, but Italian folk magic is a beautiful, powerful, and effective magical tradition that is accessible to anyone who wants to learn it.

Imagine performing surgery on a patient without anesthetic, administering medicine that could kill or cure. Welcome to the world of the surgeon-apothecary... During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries significant changes occurred in medicine. New treatments were developed and medical training improved. Yet, with doctors' fees out of the reach of ordinary people, most relied on the advice of their local apothecary, among them, the poet John Keats, who worked at Guys Hospital in London. These men were the general practitioners of their time, making up pills and potions for everything from toothache to childbirth. Death, Disease and Dissection examines the vital role these men played their training, the role they played within their communities, the treatments they offered, both quack and reputable against the shocking sights and sounds in hospitals and operating theaters of the time. Suzie Grogan transports readers through 100 years of medical history, exploring the impact of illness and death and bringing the experiences of the surgeon apothecary vividly to life.
