Important note: This is a book summary of Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl—this is not the original book.
Imagine what it would feel like to be seized like an animal and thrown into a Nazi concentration camp. What would be going through your mind? Would you lose all hope? Or manage to find hope and meaning in the middle of all that death and chaos? That's what Viktor Frankl did.... Even after watching his entire family get murdered, he still found a way to see the light at the end of the tunnel for long enough to survive the brutality of the Nazi concentration camps in order to share his meaningful story with the world.

“Very engaging . . . This charming travel memoir shows us how a person and a city can grow and change in tandem.” —Booklist   Over eight visits to Paris, Deirdre Kelly has found herself—first as a nineteen-year-old and then later as a budding writer, a dance critic, and a fashion reporter. Subsequent visits—with her mother, her future husband, and later as a mother herself—have shown her that while some parts of Paris remain constant, her life is always evolving. More than just a beautiful and romantic backdrop for her self-discovery, Paris itself contributes to that discovery, emerging as a principal character in Kelly’s life, an influence that inspires, guides, and teaches as she ages. A terrific gift for budding travelers, Francophiles, and women on their own path toward growth, this book reminds readers of their own favorite place.   “A poignant, honest, and deliciously sexy coming-of-age story.” —Jan Wong, national bestselling author of Beijing Confidential   “Deirdre Kelly’s writing is fast-paced and full of color and gives the reader an insider’s view. She gets it right.” —Sally Armstrong, national bestselling author of The Nine Lives of Charlotte Taylor   “Takes the reader on a colorful travelogue along the narrow streets of the Marais district, the spectacular Tuileries gardens and the bustling Galleries Lafayette department store . . . a fast-paced, breezy read, its substance subtly woven into a tale of a city whose glamour and beauty never fades.” —Ottawa Citizen   “At times pensive, sardonic and laugh-out-loud funny, as it chronicles a real life with all its comedies and tragedies.” —Calgary Herald

After a fairy-tale courtship in 1980s New York City, Maggie's young marriage shatters when her "perfect" husband-a star editor at the Wall Street Journal-is diagnosed with and dies of AIDS, leaving her with two young children in a city electrified by paranoia about the new epidemic. Devastated by his betrayal, Maggie struggles to protect herself and her children from stigma, keeping the circumstances of her husband's death a secret for nearly twenty-five years. It is only when a journey of self-discovery aligns with her children's coming of age and a new world of sexual tolerance that she can finally embrace the truth and set herself free. With a foreword by former Wall Street Journal assistant managing editor Laura Landro and an afterword by psychologist Dr. Dale Atkins, who frequently appears on The Today Show, Now Everyone Will Know is an honest, unflinching memoir about the damaging nature of family secrets and an inspiring call to embrace every truth-the good, the bad, the ugly-that makes us who we are.

When her five-year-old son passed the rigorous entrance exams to one of Japan's top private elementary schools, Makihara, a single mother, thought they were on their way. Taro would wear the historic dark blue uniform and learn alongside other little Einsteins while she basked in the glory of his high achievements with the other perfect moms. Together they would climb the rungs into the country's successful elite. But it didn't turn out that way. Taro had other things in mind. While set in Japan, their struggles in the school's hyper-competitive environment mirror those faced by parents here in the US and raise the same questions about the best way to educate a child—especially one that doesn't quite fit the mold. Public or private? Competitive or nurturing? Standardized or individualized? Helicopter parenting or free-range? Amid this frenzied debate, how does one find balance and maintain a healthy parent-child relationship?Dear Diary Boy is an intensely personal, heartwarming, and heartbreaking chronicle of one mother and child's experience in a prestigious private Tokyo school. It's a tale that will resonate with all parents as we try to answer the age-old questions of how best to educate our children and what, truly, is in their best interests versus what is in our own.
