Summary

I did not set out to write a travel book. Instead I started, many years ago, to blog daily idiocentric observations to a small, dedicated group of online readers while travelling the equivalent of 100 times around the globe on business and at leisure.

Over time it became apparent that losing my luggage was going to be a major feature of my travels occurring more than 30 times to date, so I have taken a keen interest in recent developments to reduce this irritating inconvenience with the use of radio frequency technology.

A selection of consolidated daily travel blogs has been put together as the basis of this publication, written in a rough and ready format while on the road, commenting on the comic, the absurd, the thought-provoking and the downright surprising aspects of exploring the ways of the world in more than 130 countries around the world.

    G. K. Chesterton was an English writer, journalist, philosopher, poet and lay theologian. He delighted in standing conventional wisdom on its head in order to expose what he considered to be the lack of substance in the "vague modern." In Heretics , he touches on a range of topics, including social Darwinism, eugenics, nihilism and atheism, while enumerating the flaws he finds in the work of his intellectual contemporaries such as Rudyard Kipling , Friedrich Nietzsche , George Bernard Shaw , and H. G. Wells . G. K. Chesterton (died 1936) was a major literary figure of the early 20th century. Their work has endured across generations and continues to be read and studied worldwide. The nonfiction literature of previous centuries offers invaluable windows into the minds and preoccupations of earlier ages. Heretics combines the personal and the universal in ways that continue to resonate with contemporary readers seeking to understand both history and human nature.

When Lyle Summers learns his neighbor has died, he just wants to do the right thing for her four King Charles Spaniels, so he takes them in, intending for it to be temporary… until he learns she left them to him in her will. That would be a lot easier if he knew anything about dogs. What he finds is the kind of unconditional love his life has been missing.
James Groves, a tech at the local vet clinic, offers to help Lyle learn how to take care of his new friends. What he doesn't expect is for Lyle's kind heart to touch his own. But then again, the dogs adore Lyle and they are the best judges of character he knows.
But trouble is brewing in the form of his neighbor's daughter, who thinks the valuable purebreds should have come to her. And Lyle may have uncovered a dog-fighting ring. Can James and Lyle keep each other and their dogs safe as Debbie and her husband become more determined to take back what they think is theirs?

The official authorized companion to the much-loved Netflix show Emily in Paris. Paris, J'Adore! is Emily Cooper's diary about her life in France so far. From leaving her boyfriend in Chicago to starting at marketing firm Savoir in Paris, it reveals all the thrill, fear and confusion Emily experiences as she embarks on her new life. She becomes acquainted not only with French workplace etiquette - the long lunches, the arguments, the determined reluctance to use social media - but also with Gabriel, the hottest chef in town. Some things, though, are beyond comprehension: like why the first floor in a Parisian apartment building is the second floor and the first floor is the ground floor. As the months go by, Emily learns how it's perfectly normal to have a glass of Sancerre for breakfast and how you should never turn up early at work. But more than anything, she learns about love, female friendships, and how exciting it is to step out of your comfort zone in this beautiful and intriguing city. Paris, J'Adore! is also a guidebook to how to be a Parisian, with tips on fashion, romance, and where to capture the perfect selfie in the City of Lights. Written in Emily's voice, it will contain the following sections: Emily's Fashion Paris - all about Emily's favourite outfits and designers - from Cadault to Chanel - as well as tips on what to wear to the beach, where to find the best boutiques, and how to dress like a Parisian; Emily's Romantic Paris - the best bridges to kiss and break up on, where you can find the most breathtaking views and the most perfect backstreets, why the magic of the Eiffel Tower twinkling at night is the most intoxicating backdrop to falling in love, and a selection of the most evocative French songs to sing along to; Emily's Secret Paris - where Parisians show Emily the real Paris, from the hamman in the Mosquée de Paris to the Atelier des Lumières, and from small independent French cinemas to delightful neighbourhood restaurants;   Emily's Workplace Paris - how to navigate tensions and emotions in a French boardroom, lunch and coffee break rituals, Sylvie's own version of Savoir's Employee Handbook, and how to teach the French about social media;   Emily's Escapades from Paris - including the delights of the Champagne region, the sheer glamour of Saint-Tropez and the opulence of the Château de Versailles. Paris, J'Adore! is a hugely desirable gift for all the fans of the show.

    This Beautiful Country - How...

Full of surprise and discovery, This Beautiful Country paints an unforgettable picture of Italy heretofore unseen - one wilder than you can imagine.

Italy is renowned for its antiquities, classical literature, philosophy, and modern-day culture, cuisine and fashion. What has gone largely overlooked – and undocumented, even by its people – is its unique biodiversity. Italy has the widest variety of wildlife in Europe with over 60,000 different species, and around 4,800 of these are found nowhere else on Earth. It has more grape varieties than France, more wheat that the United States, over 300 local tomatoes, and dozens of citrus and chestnut varieties.

Edward Cutler, co-founder of the Tuscany Environment Foundation, began to explore Italy's history on his Tuscan farm. Starting with a small salamander endemic to the surrounding Apennine Mountains, he opened a trove of discoveries. Alongside a dedicated community of Italian biologists and conservation scientists, Edward traces a journey of the country's geological past to its present-day landscape and beauty, architectural heritage and gastronomic wonders. This eye-opening guide makes a compelling case for prioritising Italian conservation and ecosystem services while highlighting the country's profound ecological impact on Europe as a whole.

'A deep dive into how hundreds of millions of years of evolution and Earth history have shaped the beauty of modern-day Italy. This engaging and enlightening book will give you a whole new perspective on how one of the world’s most fascinating countries and cultures came to be.' Steve Brusatte, New York Times bestselling author of The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs
