Summary

In this book, I gathered simple, affordable and maximally efficient step-by-step recipes for natural cosmetics, which you may easily prepare at home with your hands. All these methods have repeatedly been tested in practice and can help you to solve your most profound and age-old challenges, which sometimes remain unsolved even if you use some expensive branded products.

These products –from lotions to creams – do no harm to the skin and the environment so that we can call them eco cosmetics.

Most of the recipes described here consist of simple, affordable and useful components. And their effectiveness is proven not only by professional cosmetologists but also by numerous women who use them regularly as the part of skin care and they help to slow down skin aging and to improve its appearance.

If you are not lazy and decide to include homemade facial masks in the list of your daily facial skin care products, you can improve the quality condition of your skin and extend its youth and beauty for many years.

The health of your skin depends on the food and vitamins consumed by you, but that is not enough because your skin should be ‘fed’ from outside. And here, again, Nature will be your helper number one. It has already created beautiful things, which help us to stay healthy and young. You just need to listen to its advice.

Families are places of love, care, and fun; also of anger, anxiety, and quarrels. Not Speaking tells the story of a Greek matriarch, Rena, and her English children in post-war London and the present.
It begins with Rena’s move out of a flat in St John’s Wood owned by her son Nicky Clarke, and the family disagreement that erupted. Moving through the London slums of Blackfriars, Greece under Nazi occupation, the Old Kent Road, Elephant and Castle, and the world of Mayfair hairdressing, this is a tale of enrichment and fame, infidelity and its consequences.
And in the end, it has a message: every family is unique and all families are the same.

The Living Universe - Where Are...

By the bestselling author of Voluntary Simplicity (over 150,000 sold)

    • Brings together cutting-edge science and ancient spiritual wisdom to demonstrate that the universe is a living, sentient system and that we are an integral part of it

    • Explores the power of this new paradigm to move humanity toward a sustainable and promising future

Science has traditionally regarded the universe as mostly made up mostly of inert matter and empty space. At one time this point of view was liberating, part of the Enlightenment-born rationalism that helped humanity free itself from superstition and fear and achieve extraordinary intellectual and technological breakthroughs.

But this paradigm has outlived its usefulness. It has led to rampant materialism and environmental degradation—if the universe is essentially dead and we are alive, then the inanimate stuff of the universe should be ours to exploit. But we now know that not only is the view of a dead universe destructive, it is also inaccurate and misleading.

In The Living Universe, Duane Elgin brings together evidence from cosmology, biology, physics, and even his participation in NASA-sponsored psychic experiments to show that the universe is permeated by a living field and that we are always in communion with that field of aliveness whether we are conscious of it or not. This is a world-view that, as Elgin explains, is shared by virtually every spiritual tradition, and the implications of it are vast and deep. In a living system, each part is integral to the whole, so each of us is intimately connected to the entire universe. Elgin eloquently demonstrates how our identity manifests itself on a whole series of levels, from subatomic to galactic. We are, he writes, “far more than biological beings—we are beings of cosmic connection and participation.”

To confront our ongoing planetary crisis of dwindling resources and escalating conflict, we need to move past an ideology of separation, competition, and exploitation. Duane Elgin asks us to see humanity sharing in the same field of aliveness, to discover how to live sustainably and harmoniously within the living universe.

    ABOUT THE BOOK
High blood pressure (HBP) or hypertension, a prevalent condition in the United States, is a major risk factor for stroke and heart attack. According to the American Heart Association, the economic burden to our society from HBP related problems and diseases is more than $93.5 billion per year.
Approximately 90 to 95% of all HBP patients have so-called essential HBP for which the cause is unknown. The remainder 5 to 10% has secondary HBP due to diseases of the arteries, heart, the adrenal glands or kidneys. The blood pressure measurement consists of two numbers, the top number is known as systolic and the bottom number, diastolic, BP expressed in mm Hg. Systolic BP is generated during the contraction of the heart whereas diastolic BP is generated during relaxation in between heartbeats.
