Summary

Brain Hacks to Becoming Straight A Student- Cheat Sheet
Look around you; I am sure you know a few "good students" around you, maybe you are friends with a few of them, and in your mind, you think.
1. Good students are born with that special talent and skills
2. God made them smart
3. It is very easy for them to Ace every test
I believed those three statements so much that I almost gave up and when I was in 8th grade, I failed in school so miserably that I didn't even get to go to 9th grade, and had to stay behind. It was an embarrassment like none other. The mere shame of staying behind was eating me alive. Just imagine how I felt!
I truly had a rude awakening after that. It was like I woke up from a deep sleep and suddenly realize up until then, I really never opened my mind and my eyes at the same time to comprehend what I was studying because when I was reading my eyes were open but my mind was close shut and vice versa. Why? I thought I was not smart enough to understand what I was reading; I thought I was not one of the fortunate ones to be born with that god given extra talent and skills.
Boy was I wrong!!!
For days I was furious at my own self, I locked myself in my room for days with pure rage and anger, which started to melt into frustrations and sadness. But then I asked myself why do I not understand what I read, is my brain that dull, or maybe I don't have a brain.
Seeing me on the verge of collapse, my father took me to meet a person who was a renowned professor at Vanderbilt University. He was well known for his research on "Why some students excel in school."
He is my godsend mentor, he showed me the light and opened up my eyes and mind (both at the same time) as he explained why only a few students do exceptionally well in school while rest do not.
He answered the three questions I asked you above and said the answers are:
1. No
2. No
3. No
Long story short, next final, I scored in the top 5% and was called into the principal's office asking me how I was able to do that. I think he was trying to find out if I was cheating really. Moving on, I never had to look back. My college days weren't as glorious or full of A's, but I did finish my B.S. in Economics with a 3.8 GPA, not bad huh? Well, that landed me a scholarship at the same university(Vanderbilt) for my MBA. From my dark days of 8th grade till I finished my PhD(yes, I did it!), only thing I followed were those strategies and smart tips that my mentor gave me.
Now, this book is not about my success but yours, I wrote this book to show you how easy it truly can be to excel in school, as long as we follow a few simple strategies and tips.
This book is tailor-made to help you rise to meet the challenges of the college experience, both academically and socially. In this book, you will learn skills that will help you develop a system of habits that will benefit you for the rest of your life.
Learn How to:

7. Nine amazing tips that worked for me every time

Learn the origins of over 2,000 mammal species names with this informative reference guide.

Just who was the Przewalski after whom Przewalski's horse was named? Or Husson, the eponym for the rat Hydromys hussoni? Or the Geoffroy whose name is forever linked to Geoffroy's cat? This unique reference provides a brief look at the real lives behind the scientific and vernacular mammal names one encounters in field guides, textbooks, journal articles, and other scholarly works.

Arranged to mirror standard dictionaries, the more than 1,300 entries included here explain the origins of over 2,000 mammal species names. Each bio-sketch lists the scientific and common-language names of all species named after the person, outlines the individual’s major contributions to mammalogy and other branches of zoology, and includes brief information about his or her mammalian namesake’s distribution. The two appendixes list scientific and common names for ease of reference, and, where appropriate, individual entries include mammals commonly—but mistakenly—believed to be named after people.

The Eponym Dictionary of Mammals is a highly readable and informative guide to the people whose names are immortalized in mammal nomenclature.

“A small treasure trove of information about the people whose names are immortalized in mammalian nomenclature. Given that we mammalogists are prone to ancestor worship, I expect it to be a best-seller.” —Don E. Wilson, Journal of Mammalian Evolution

“This is a great reference for the mammalogy professional or student, or the curious naturalist.” —Wildlife Activist

“This is a splendid book which fills a real gap in zoological literature.” —Nicholas Gould, International Zoo News

    The Coronavirus Pandemic -...

What lies at the root of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the worldwide pandemic it has caused, affecting the health and livelihoods of untold millions of people? What are the deeper, spiritual realities behind COVID-19 and the global turmoil it has left in its trail? In an effort to answer these queries and many others put to her at the start of the pandemic, Judith von Halle composed two letters in March 2020, based on her own spiritual-scientific research. Published in this book together with an additional essay, she addresses questions such as:
Which entities stand behind the virus?
How and why does it affect human beings?
What measures can be taken for prevention and therapy?
What does the crisis mean to individuals and what possibilities does it offer for personal development?
The author suggests that, apart from the material havoc triggered by coronavirus, the spiritual causes behind it are extremely serious and – if the present pandemic is not to be the first in a series of catastrophes – humanity is called upon to respond in a radically transformative way. In an additional article von Halle tackles the controversial issues relating to government lockdowns and the protest movements that have sprung up in opposition to them. How do these events point to real questions of individual freedom and, most importantly, how do they relate to the central event of our time – an event that, tragically, remains largely unknown?
Revealing unexpected perspectives to the COVID-19 pandemic, Judith von Halle asks urgent and difficult questions and offers shattering insights for humanity's further development.
