Dear Mother,I should begin by saying that I’m sorry.I know that Marie’s death hit you hard in the days after the funeral. All you needed in the world was the shoulder of your son to cry upon. I know I wasn’t there. I know that I should have been, and for that I am truly sorry.Moreso, however, I am sorry for the circumstances that led to my absence, the reason I couldn’t be there and the reason I can never let you weep for your child on any shoulder of mine.I know that when you read these words you will most likely throw down this letter in disgust, disregarding the rest of its message and so, I will tell you now. Throw it down. Walk away in tears, vow to disown me and erase all memory that I ever was your child, but please, do not destroy this letter. In the days, weeks, months, or years to come when the sting has faded a little, the wound at least partially healed, you can come back to this letter and read what remains after the hurt.It is my story, my confession and my reasons. First however I need to tell you.I killed Marie...

For millennia, they have held the gates of Hell shut against the darkness. But now they’re gone… and the gates are swinging wide.
When Morgan Sierra receives a package with a note from her father — murdered in a suicide bombing years ago — she goes on high alert. As an agent of ARKANE, the secret organization tasked with investigating the supernatural, Morgan has seen unusual things like this before. But even she isn’t prepared to face the danger that’s coming… from her own past.
Her father’s death was no accident. A member of the Remnant — a group of holy men schooled in the deepest mysteries of Kabbalah — her father was one of those charged with protecting our world from the demons that want to take it; to keep sealed the gates of Hell.
But the Remnant is dying, its members murdered by Adam Kadmon: a man once groomed to lead the Remnant before turning to twisted paths of power. Kadmon wants to open the portal between our world and Hell, to create a twisted, demonic version of our world over which he will reign supreme.
Now, Morgan and her partner — Jake Timber, the enigmatic agent who recruited her for ARKANE — are on the run. From the holiest cities in Israel to underwater cities lost to history, they must follow this trail to the end. To find a way to stop Kadmon before he offers the final sacrifice. A sacrifice of pain. A sacrifice of blood. A sacrifice of one of the children of the Remnant.
Kadmon intends to spill the blood of Morgan Sierra… and open wide the Gates of Hell.
Gates of Hell is the sixth installment in the bestselling ARKANE series by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author J.F. Penn. Listen as part of the series, or as a standalone adventure.

She begins to see that a woman is trapped in the suffocating wallpaper that envelops her room, and she becomes determined—at all costs—to free her.Rediscovered and celebrated by feminists and humanists in the 1970s, its powerful atmosphere of mystery and underlying message retains its strength to this day. Isobel Violet Hunt was born on 28th September 1862 in Durham. As a young child her family moved to London and Hunt was brought up amongst the Pre-Raphaelite circle of artists.

As a writer she was comfortable and talented enough to write across several forms including short stories, novels, memoir, and biography. Her novels are excellent examples of New Woman fiction and help illustrate her activities fighting for and promoting better rights for women.

Although she remained unmarried she had lovers as notable as Somerset Maugham, H G Wells and Ford Maddox Ford, the latter whom she lived with for a number of years.

Her collections of supernatural short stories contain much of her best work and despite her considerable talents and literary output her reputation rests both on the literary salons she held at her home in Campden Hill, where the very best of literary society attended, and for her founding of the Women Writers' Suffrage League in 1908 and her participation in the founding of International PEN in 1921.

Violet Hunt died of pneumonia at her home in Campden Hill on 16th January 1942. She was 79 and is buried at Brookwood Cemetery.

Once more Hunt takes a common occurrence, the delivery of a telegram, as the stepping off point for a woman to question whether she should get married, but fate has not yet dealt its final hand.
