Summary

For Jody, growing up in the late eighties and early nineties in the small Louisiana town of Hammond with his best friend Jack was filled with wonderful childhood memories.

As they grow older together and experience the joys and pains of life, love, family and friendship, they uncover a grim secret that their home town has kept, and through little more than an innocent, idle curiosity, Jody and Jack stumble upon something horrific in the woods and their lives quickly take a most sinister and dangerous turn as they find themselves hunted by an unspeakable evil...

The story is a study of the psychology of guilt, often paired in analysis with Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart".[2] In both, a murderer carefully conceals his crime and believes himself unassailable, but eventually breaks down and reveals himself, impelled by a nagging reminder of his guilt. "The Black Cat", which also features questions of sanity versus insanity, is Poe's strongest warning against the dangers of alcoholism.
In the story, an unnamed narrator has a strong affection for pets until he perversely turns to abusing them. His favorite, a pet black cat, bites him one night and the narrator punishes it by cutting its eye out and then hanging it from a tree. The home burns down but one remaining wall shows a burned outline of a cat hanging from a noose. He soon finds another black cat, similar to the first except for a white mark on its chest, but he develops a hatred for it as well. He attempts to kill the cat with an axe but his wife stops him; instead, the narrator murders his wife. It becomes even more macabre but you will discover that by listening.

    Dracula
"Dracula" by Bram Stoker is a timeless horror classic that has captivated readers for over a century. The novel tells the story of Count Dracula, a powerful and mysterious vampire from Transylvania, who sets his sights on Victorian-era London. As Dracula seeks to establish a new home and expand his influence, a group of brave individuals bands together to stop him, including the determined and resourceful Professor Van Helsing. Stoker's vivid descriptions of the eerie landscapes and supernatural encounters draw readers in, while the characters' struggles against the dark forces of evil keep them on the edge of their seats. A chilling exploration of the battle between good and evil, "Dracula" remains a must-read for horror fans and literary enthusiasts alike.
    Frankenstein
"Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley is a thrilling and captivating novel that has mesmerised readers for over 200 years. The story follows the brilliant and ambitious scientist, Victor Frankenstein, as he creates a monstrous being using stolen body parts. But as the creature struggles to find acceptance and meaning in a hostile world, Victor is consumed by guilt and fear, realising too late the horrifying consequences of his actions. As the two engage in a battle of wills and wits, Shelley's vivid and evocative language paints a chilling picture of a world gone awry, where science and technology have unleashed dark and dangerous forces beyond our control. "Frankenstein" is a haunting tale of ambition, revenge, and the consequences of playing God, which continues to shock and captivate readers today.

The rest of the werewolf pack might consider Aric Connor to be omniscient and destined to save the world when evil returns to claim it. But for the most part, fifteen-year-old Aric ignores the confirmations of his powers, taking everything in stride until he meets her.
Celia Wird wasn't supposed to awaken naked in the mountains of Colorado, not when she was just stalking her prey in a filthy alley several states away. She especially wasn't supposed to meet Aric, the handsome werewolf who comes to her aid.
As a supernatural tasked with protecting the earth, Aric sympathizes with Celia's dangerous situation. He's also struck by her beauty and kindness. Yet, as much as Aric welcomes Celia, her arrival isn't a peaceful one.
Dark forces stir in Celia's presence, resolute on killing her. Aric and his inner beast are adamant about keeping Celia safe and with them. But there's a time and a place for love, and Aric and Celia might not survive long enough to find it.
